Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Has Telkom just gone down? Line keeps disconnecting.

It was the cr@p trendnet powerline adapters messing with the router

Something's up with the internet in Durban. Tried Telkom and Vox accounts but DL speeds are slow.

Monthly reminder not to buy Telkom ISP products, barley keep advertised speed and latencies.

10kb/s , 300+ ping to EU, 2pm on a saturday. Just typical Telkom internet account.

Dont buy, use any other ISP.

Speedtest to Vodafone Frankfurt from a 10Mbps line in Cape Town: 9.75 down, 0.63 up, 188ms. All identified gaming traffic gets the same QoS as speedtest.

If you post some details (game, destination IP, comparitive command-lome ping etc.), maybe someone can have a look, but if you don't then it's not practical ...

I reported a fault since the my ADSL line is losing sync intermittently. I noticed a increase in the downstream line attenuation which might be at fault. Can someone please enlighten me as to how these faults are checked be the Tech wants to do speed tests and if the speeds are fine we will be charged a call out fee. How can you check such faults with a flippin speedtest? I told him that I have had this problem in the past and there was a loose connection the in the blue box or something the tech at the time said.

they have tool to test, they have to cover themselves with the standard if fault is not theirs verbiage

As far as I know, for issues like this they have graphs and automated diagnosis available without dispatching anyone anywhere ...

Anyone else having issues in Cpt Central? Router indicates no issues, but everything just about timing out or not connecting at all.

Having a strange issue where Windows updates won't deliver on Telkom Uncapped.

I have attended 3 callouts today where telkomsa isp customers have no internet. It seems to be connected, lights on, etc, but there's no data. Pings to telkom.co.za work funnily. Changing to Google DNS helped one, but the others not. One was even getting google brazil, thinking the ip address was there. Anyone else seeing DNS issues today?

Just having issues with MSN.com using Edge and having updates delivered. Other MS Apps like Mail and are slow to load pics. Changed to Vox and everything loads and works great.

Still having strange issues on TI Uncapped only on Windows. Edge and Opera thinks the connection is behind a firewall. Browsing works fine in Firefox but Windows Store and the Mail App is ridiculously slow to load images in emails.

This is probably the most stupid question you guys will read today, but what are the chances of Telkom allowing custom QoS rules for their customers? For instance if customers need to give some ports priority over other ports?

Telkom has a option on their customer portal but it's preconfigured.

So I've tried my old ASUS router and browsing seems to fine again and MS Store and Edge are working again. The faulty router is a D-LInk 2750U.
