Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Was having issues with the internet yesterday.
Keep getting the error that that site cannot be found or some such.

Anyway did a speed test and I'm running at just under 10mb, so Telkom actually upped my speed as promised! wow.
The connection issue is there DNS, so I switched to google's DNS and everythings hunkey dorey.

Anyone had multiple disconnections with their router in Durban area / eastern side of South Africa? As in, as if it's in a loop, followed by connection coming and going? Trying to discount the problem, if its the router or Telkom. Thanks.

PS KOPITE, I don't think Telkom have a trial uncapped, best to call 10210 and ask.

I have a 4Mb Home Uncapped line, but rarely get higher than 2.3Mb download speed. When the technician was here for a fault a while ago, I asked him if the exchange could handle 10Mb, he said yes. Last week I applied for an upgrade, and was told that the exchange does not support 10Mb, and the upgrade was impossible. I tend to believe the technician, but yeah, anyway. Then they changed the account log in and I had nothing. It only took an hour and two calls to fix that. :(

Now my Customer Portal page says that I have a 10Mb Home Uncapped package, and the line is obviously still slow. Are they really this doff? I cant wait to be on hold for another hour.

Well, maybe more correctly, if you wanted a bundle and your line was witj a different ISP, you would have needed to have them put it on the holding pool (which probably requires cancellation with the ISP who has the DSL line).

But if your line can't manage 4Mbps, what is the point in upgrading?

How did ypu apply? At what point were you told that the upgrade was impossible?

Account upgrades/downgrades shouldn't result in a new username (or password change) if the agent is following the correct process :-(.

I changed from 4Mbps uncapped to 100GB Softcap+10Mbps a year ago, and kept my username and password.

Unfortunately the call centre is outsourced (no-one you can talk to is a Telkom employee), and (at least the way it was 18 momths ago) very few people stay longer after completing training than it takes to train them ...

Just to see if it would make a difference. I'm on month to month, so if it didn't I would have returned to the 4Mb

I applied in store. They had a few issues with the system and being a Sunday they said they would try on the Monday. They phoned on the Tuesday and said it could not be done.

Maybe this was with the issues he had on the initial in store upgrade request. It was off as soon as we got home.

It is just frustrating when I would rather be doing something else.
