Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

So sick of high pings.
Was on a TI capped account that would usually manage 50ms or so but since upgrading to the uncapped package its constantly about 100ms :(

I even messaged TelkomZA and no response just shows you how much they care

Is anyone have issues with their integrated data Sim since the apn change?

Thanks Ryan. Didn't even know. I have noticed issues sometimes, also integrated but then again I've noticed issues throughout nearly all the ISPs. Do we need to type in the new APN or is it just changed automatically?

Ok, been going down the rabbit hole of connected articles there. Oh my..... riight now this all makes sense. I've been seeing the path chnages on the BGP's moving like crazy all over the place. Changing of IP's all the time is causing all the problems I'm experiencing then... nice Telkom... nice.

Where are you getting BGP info from?

Search BGPlay and BGPmon, very handy. I also get alerts sent via email when changes happen.

Surely that is just Public BGP peers, it won't show any of the private internal BGP routers telkom/SAIX uses?

Hi TelkomZA , could you please add my line to the list of lines that are on the ASSIA exclusion .

Currently my line is on intereleaved and my ping is horrible , around 30ms to 40 sometimes 80ms

Thank you
Regards
Danny

Reported packet loss on the 29th April, back and fort X infinity, and guess what still packet loss, and it seems telkom just doesn't care ... on two occasion my dslam was off for 1+ day and both times got trolled into thinking aaaaahhhh they fixing the problem but only to jump into a game and HEY would you believe it some 30% loss.... its near impossible to play an online game when you only getting almost half the communication.

would love to go fibre but murphy has indeed ****ed me properly with fibre in a nice neat 4 block circle in either direction.

I'm getting a "carrier lost" my side. It says it in the Telkom portal. Internet just disappears and then returns 5mins later. Multiple times a day. Audio line is fine, so guessing they just losing the ADSL line? How on earth does that happen?

Again tonight I have zero internet on ADSL. Getting more and more frequent. Browsers can't connect to anything. Tracert www.google.com unable to resolve. If I tracert IP address 8.8.8.8, it shows hops.

Getting the same issue here on fiber.

I see this sometimes as well. Carrier drops, and my router spazzes out until I restart it. I'm going to re-flash the latest firmware later to see if that helps.

Ah thank god, I thought it was my second brand new router was possibly broken as it was also always spazzing out, at least now I know it is also happening to others. I've flashed the latest firmware twice as well as returning routers to the shop and back. Don't think that will help. Could voltage spike or drop be possible on a phone line?

On my side it's almost certainly ASSIA-based. I'm on the technical limit for 20Mb support and despite the line's suitability for it generally, I think ASSIA automatically drops the PPPoE connection and tries to reinitiate the line. This started after a severe hardware failure at the exchange in December 2017, and it's been janky ever since. I chose my router specifically to improve the noise levels, but this is about the best it'll be, all things considered.

Just waiting on fiber, I guess.

Any way we can get off ASSIA? I've heard of people calling them and asking to disable it, does that work or do they just sound like you talking French to them and they can't or don't disable it?
