Cons: your adsl speed gets effected ( far as i know )

Yes thats correct. Maybe a good solution as Mweb's speed give me ample Telkom line bandwidth available on my line whilst Mweb are throttling the cr@p out of me.

And like clock work I am back to 10 % of my line speed. How can there still be no word from TI representatives on this????? Day 3 now of fine speeds in the day, brought down to non existent at night.....

Yeah wait until tonight. Same pattern for me for last 3 or 4 days. In the daytime line runs at full speed. Come about 5 - 6pm, speeds down to 0.1mbs. No congestion according to tracert. Just speedtest 500ms pings to servers in cape town and a fraction of the line speed. So do what you need to do in the day, cause night time is for twiddling of thumbs. And wifey complaining that netflix doesnt work.

Something is seriously wrong. 800ms ping on TI vs 13 ms ping on Afrihost via SpeedTest to the same server. TI is really stuffing around.

Hows ur 2nd and 3rd hops on local tracerts bud?
Mine are erratic, can jump anywhere from a few ms to 800ms.
My problem is my exchange is k@k

EDIT: I was gonna post a speedtest as evidence how shyte my line is but speedtest.net dont wanna load

2nd tracert shows a 81ms 3rd hop compared to 29ms.
I dunno whats going on on hops 10 and 11 (on mwebs network) 455ms and 449ms

I was looking for this email my mate sent me a week ago. This line was of particular interest.

I mailed the guy that offered me the discount and he said he'd look into my line speed issue.

Comes back to me with this:
1. No issues on my line
2. Checked with their Internet guys who told him (to his surprise) that ALL uncapped customers are throttled (not shaped - throttled) between 16:00 and 22:00.

Does this sound like the problem most of us are having ? Can ranger confirm (or deny) this ?

Ranger, please shed some light on this for us. Surely it cant be true, even if it was why in the hell would Telkom throttle users at night when all other ISPs are opening the taps?

Mmmmmmhhhhh.... why though? Thats not cool, I'd be ok with it if I can stream and browse perfectly that time, but I cant stream at all now, my xbmc keeps getting stuck on 20% buffering! Not cool!!
