We have been very busy the past week, will provide some updates and try to reply to to all PMs tonight.

Note there is maintenance tonight from midnight that may impact services imcluding adsl authemtication, but existing conectioms should not be impacted.

I just hope my router doesn't routinely restart on me.

NNTP Is crawling tonight, normally dont run downloads this time of the night, but when iran a speed test got this result,

Last Result:
Download Speed: 998 kbps (124.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 409 kbps (51.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 63 ms
10/18/2013 6:49:49 PM)

So i thought i'd fire my SABNZB just to check, and im getting about 25% of my line speed... Got a 2meg line, and im downloading at 384Kbps rate basically...?

Could it be because of the changes perhaps rannger?

That is what we get when we listen to telkom brainwashing, example buy a 50 litre car cruising along until you hit 20 litres, then the car goes slower return to dealer explain things.ANSWER: Sir you are not driving your car properly if you drive at off peak time say midnight to six in the morning then we promise you will get 100 litres out of the car.Go figure?.

Thanks for the kind words of advice. And some sanity to aid in my depression.

However, like I stated. If i log onto my capped 10gb Afrihost account I get full line speed on the same Unity3D 881mb HTTP download. So its not that I am experiencing congestion, or that my pc is doing something else. I get slighly uncomfortable if there are things Telkom can tamper with in terms of my account which miraculously make it consistant again. I moved from Openweb for this exact reason. And for months its been fine and I have been selling and singing Telkoms praises. It is now suddenly the last month, that streams are choppy, download speeds are slow. It's not as consistent as it use to be. I find myself changing to afrihost more than I would like. The only thing I can think is that the bandwidth allocation to my area (Bellville/Durbanville) is not what it should be. This was a problem 4 months ago which Ranger resolved. I get the feeling its creeped up again. However, I don't see anyone from Telkom disputing this or not.

Okay, so you did have the same or similar issue before and it was resolved thanks to ranger and the team :p.

I do hope you contact him regardless so that he can check (TelkomZA) with a note of what ranger did so they can check what was done using your previous REF.

Keep us posted and i guarantee it will be sorted, the question is how long after reporting it? :)

/Am almost always optimistic so take it as you wish :D

Thanks for the update ranger, hope all goes smoothly and this rain doesn't bugger things up o_o.

TelkomZA / Ranger,

I'm finally aboard and have a do Uncapped 4mbps account. Now to see how it performs compared to Afrihost and MWeb :)

One question - the online client portal. There's no place where it shows you what uncapped package you have (1/2/4/10mbps), etc. Only the usage tracker, which is very minimalistic (I did read your explanation on why the product managers wanted the minimalist approach). Any chance we can get something more closely resembling Afrihost's ClientZone, or MWeb's MyADSL?

Basically, what I'd want from a central client zone:

1) The ability to see what connectivity products I have (for instance, "do Uncapped 4mbps"), not just "Telkom Internet".
2) The ability to downgrade or upgrade these accounts to lower/higher speeds, to cancel accounts, or order additional accounts.
3) The integrated ability to change my password.
4) Integrated usage reporting.
5) Not too essential, but I guess if you guys really want to centralise all services, then add the current "My Telkom" fixed line management features here as well. At the moment, all the online management services are scattered all over the place, and many don't exist yet.

My only worry is (especially in terms of points 1 and 2 above), is that I'd love to do these things myself via a client portal online, rather than try to communicate my request to call centre agents who usually (I wish I was exaggerating) have no idea what you want, and often end up doing it wrong. (Case in point, it took 5 call centre agents to figure out my brand new do Uncapped 4mbps that I got yesterday isn't activated yet, that it's not actually me mistyping the password).

Apologies.
I guess it's the way you are wording your post that just made you seem like a troll.
It sucks to not be able to resolve a problem.

Have you tried using a different PC? i.e. disconnect your current PC and only plug in a single (other) PC... even better if it uses a different operating system

/process of elimination
