So get me right, if I want to upgrade my line, I don't have to wait till the calendar month, as they wont charge me for April ? Really want to upgrade to a 2mbps line, but not sure if they are going to charge me for April as well...

AFAIK Telkoms system automatically applies prorata and also discounts if fault on line etc.

Also the month-to-month contract has a 30 days cancellation notice. NB that you can downgrade via 10210 immediately however cancellation has 30 days notice.
Is that only for the line? I don't need to upgrade the line, only need to sign up for 2mb uncapped.

I got double billed after I discovered than I was on 1Mbps instead of 4Mbps uncapped and phoned to change it to 4Mbps. Bitched and moaned when I received the account, but did not help, although it was their fault. I specified 4Mbps uncapped and never once mentioned 1Mbps uncapped.

TItracker is now warning that it's keeping an eye on me, 257GB on 4Mbps line (did 14GB yesterday downloading Ubuntu 13.04 flavours and series updates):

Speeds all seem normal though :)

I'm not far behind you but I'm green..... :-) Also on 4Mbps uncapped and connection pretty much full speed 24/7 still.

According to Saix I have done about 109GB. Apart from youtube that buffers more than usual the line is performing very well.

So I've just crossed the border from green to yellow, 4MB uncapped and according to SAIX my usage is 247 951 376 499 bytes which equates to 230GB.

Will see how my streaming etc. goes from now on

I think only when your reach power user status at the end they will implement their FUP, not when you are in green or in orage status

Wonder what the level of usage for red is on 4mb.. looks like its around 230GB for yellow on 4MB, I was on green yesterday

Wonder how accurate the new "graph" format is, the following report for a 20GB capped account says 80% used but, to my eyes, it looks more like 60%?

What is protocol shaping like on Telkom uncapped? Or does shaping and throttling only apply on overall usage limits? Specifically how is non-http traffic shaped during office hours?

Well... in Feb they throttled you to an unsable connection. 24/7

Currently downloading Australian soap torrents (don't ask) from MyEmpire at my preset limit of 225kB/s which is par for the course.

BTW the post Feb QoS shaping on TI uncapped is vastly superior to what existed before.

Anyone know roughly how many GB will stick you into the naughty shaping pile on 10Mb?

Not sure if this is related to be being in the orange but browsing is not doing so well at the moment; getting frequent timeouts.

Speedtest still going well though.

Same happened to me, 4mb to 10mb, now different telkom systems show different amounts on my account. I just paid the cheapest amount and kept that ref number for the oncoming battle.

I phoned them they said it was pro-rata. The first lady told me my account was a 4mb line (which it isn't) and transferred me to downgrades who confirmed that it wasn't and then I waited about 20mins for their computers to restart because they were slow.

I signed up for the 2mb, they sent me an sms after creating an email address (which they got completely wrong) and now I can't login to the webmail to get the acc details.

Not a good experience thus far.

Hmmm so it turns out the 'email' stuff they sent was actually to be put into the router. It is now working but how can I go about accessing and rectifying the username because they screwed that up?

Lines are pro-rata and calculated on your billing date (eg: 24th Mar thru 23 Apr - check detailed billing on Telkom invoice for your billing period), your TI uncapped account is calendar month with no pro-rata.

10210 are up to their usual game of the "uncapped account speed must be equal to the line speed" - wrong, you can run 1, 2 or 4MB uncapped on a 4Mbps line but this depends on who is assisting you.

The sms user/password you received is what goes into your router/PPPoE setup and is usually the same as the default email account they create for you - can be confusing.

Edit: See you figured it out :)
