On SAIX ADSL, you could have been routed more directly. On IPC, it depends where the ISP has a PoP. We haven't been able to justify the investment required for a PoP in Durban yet, so you go through Gauteng ... It is designed to we could (relatively) easily move the PoP.

Of course, on SAIX ADSL (shaped), your international traffic would have gone to Rosebank anyway, so we haven't made international latency much worse (maybe 4ms), but we did improve it for users in Cape Town (who should have a shorter path to international sites, by 20-40ms).

Thanks Ranger. So basically us Durban clients just have to put up with slightly higher latency than Gauteng and Cape Town users?
Not that 43ms is very high at all, in fact when I was with MWEB and Buzybuy my pings were around the same 40-50ms mark.

Hey,

Any shaping happening on Telkom Uncapped ADSL 4mb line in JHB (East Rand Area) around P2P traffic?

Anyone got the same thing going around? Or is it just me?

EDIT: Major P2P traffic shaping going on here. Torrents struggling to download metadata just to start with. Failing to connect to trackers.

Not just you. Battling to download any torrent but NZBs fly:confused:

Speedtest.net result was 7mbps but in browsing, usenet and torrents im getting nothing over 2mbps. TiTracker says im still in the green!!

Is there a problem with international traffic?

Browsing extremely slow for me.
Even Youtube has gone wrong. It defaults to 720p, but stutters.
Put it on 360 and still stop - start.
Anyone else?

No difference in mbps between US usenet and news.saix. Really seems as if some hefty shaping is going on.

PS. 700kBps through my FNB Connect account to the US usenet server....

I'm not a happy chappie either.
Not sure about torrents, but I'm struggling with normal browsing.
YouTube is not great either.

I've got some PSN updates that can't complete. I've been strugeling for 3 days now to dl 1.3GB update for Dust514.
Not sure if that is a TI problem, but I've been strugeling with DC Universe that also struggled to download via PSN.

All the ports are forwarded and the PS3 is in DMZ mode.

Edit: Friday 12/05/2013 08:15
Browsing snappy again.
Dust514 update failed again during the night. PS3 via PSN

Hi.... my torrent downloads are also crazy slow, im on a 2meg line isp is telkom in the roodepoort wilropark area... been having this issue since tuesday...
Mine's running at full speed, so no problems in CT (or maybe its just me)

I dunno hey? My torrents are riduculously slow, i went from 200Kbps on a good torrent (alot of seeders) to 0.4Kbps on a very healthy torrent... Some of my torrents, cant even find the trackers, cant even get past that "downloading metadata" with new torrents??? It's crazy, i 1st thawt it was the Windows Security updates coz its since then, so i uninstalled it, (also, my SSD was almost full after that Update), then i removed uTorrent, and settings, and re installed, it worked for 10Megs of the download at high speed, then just dropped completely to 0.4Kbps to non existent at times.... Im even considering doing a complete rebuild on my machine, i even thawt it was my Malware app thats blocking th connections, so i un installed that.... Im lost for words...

Hi guys not happy last two days afternoon speed from 1.10 Kbps to 12 Kbps, lasts until +- 06h00 next morning.1MB line.

Hi did what you suggested and speedtest shows 0.95Kbps put my given password back, and tried another download which is now 32-60-47Kbps.

correction download stops dead at 0.53Kbps it goes no further this is happening once too often now, try to explain to telkom tech but no use.

No account holder does not want scattered accounts from different isps all in one preferred postal service up the creek, do not do online transactions any other advice would be welcome thanks.

sorry if you find this very amusing new to this and do not need your sarcasm, thanks for letting me know just how willing you are to help others, hope you do not treat your family the same.thanks for nothing o holy one.
