The only thing i'm worried about...the faster the line...the quicker you get throttled?
I was used to a capped 10mbps line...what a DREAM!

Now to go to a 4mb line...feels like a bit of "degrading" to me. Sometimes (when i still had the 30 gig capped + 10mb line) i use to download a 1Gig movie between 15 and 18 min...
On a 4Mbps line with a 4Mbps uncapped account you'd only get throttled after around 444Gb. This is way above the amount of data you said you required per month!

The higher the line speed the higher the throttling margin, so a 4mb line will be throttled after 400+GB. you are not gonna get throttled at the same point as someone with a 1mb line.

Can I assume that at one second past midnight tonight, my speeds will be back to almost full speed?

Not sure about 1 second past midnight, but it will reset to normal. Not sure if you might have to reboot router.

Thanks for the input. Will reset the router tomorow morning when I wake up if the speeds arent back to normal and see what happens.

Hey ranger, I know you generally don't answer questions like these, but any idea what was up with the exchange in Durban, Westville? Phone line went down (so technically no uncapped internet for me so it's technically still ontopic :p) for a couple of hours today and when I phoned I was told the entire exchange was down.

Not to be rude, but for *****'s sake, Telkom, fix your network. Business day line changes? 10mbps uncapped achieving a *groundbreaking* 0.27mbps! Only 380ms ping to local servers. Wish I still had dial-up right now.

But seriously, the ti-228-0-06.telkomadsl.co.za [105.228.0.6] is broken.

Tracing route to telkom.co.za [196.43.22.222]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

I can't tell you how many times this has happened.

Yay it's fine now ^^
EDIT: nvm the exact second I get in-game I start lagging again. Ffs

Anybody Else getting terrible pings for local and slow line speed?
Kirkwood, close to PE.

I upgrade to 4MB Uncapped today.

And my experience was incredibly painless. I didn't wait long, I spoke to nice people and it was all done in 5 minutes. That's the Telkom I'm used to!

My Walmer connection is fine, as is my Parsons Hill connection...

PS. Is your ADSL line OK? If not then log a line fault as it is not ISP related (this thread's purpose).

Sorry my apologies.
I have logged a call.
It is apparently exchange related.

over a month now and my 4Mb line is still running a 1Mbps
Download Speed: 1356 kbps (169.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 420 kbps (52.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 21 ms

Is your router actually synching at 4MBPS? When my speed was down for a month it was cuz someone accidentally had downgraded my line from 2MBPS to 1.5 (which my router was reflecting) after another problem I'd phoned for (not related to line quality cuz there they do sometimes drops your speed to improve reliability).

Yes my modem is syncing at 4Mbps.
