I've started downloading news all day now.
My stats show a constant throughput of 212kb/s all day errday.

Stuck record promoting TI again.

Yup, my line syncs at 10mb, but usually tops out at -/+ 410kBps (4mb uncapped). This was the first time since I downgraded that I have seen it go faster. No complaints :)

Typo in my last post, should have been 800kBps
 
I wish I had your guys' luck - TI has been pathetic since Friday. (max of 70kb/s on a 4mb line)
Scanning through this thread I found a post by Ranger saying that work was being done on the evenings of Fri\Sat and again Sat\Sun, which I get and while not happy in the short term, I understand it needed to be done.

At 8am (exactly) on Sunday my speeds returned to normal so happy days again, except...
Before finding Ranger's post explaining that work was being done, I'd PM'ed TelkomZa twice, each time providing more detail on my issues.
I also got onto Telkom's website (after a painful wait) and got a support reference number - which I also PMed to TelkomZA, so 3 PM's in total.

Today, 3 days after my first PM to TelkomZA, and by which time my line speed had normalised (i.e. it was working fine), I got a message back from TelkomZA saying they'd done a port reset (three days later - how's that for service?)

My interwebs then completely disappeared, necessitating a call to 10210 where a very helpful lady did a couple of things, asked me to switch my router off and voila - magic again...

It seems to me that if Charl is not manning the TelkomZa space, then don't nobody know what they're doing there...
 
My first month is almost done and i've done 160gb so far on a 2MB line. Speed has been constant and I have no regrets going to telkom.
 
I joined TI mid-august, as soon as the Mweb **** started. Pulled 120 Gb for September and same again this month on 4 Mb uncapped. Very happy with speeds. Me too - no regrets moving to TI. I've been doing full speed NNTP between midnight and dawn, and the odd torrent has even been good, though not during the day or early evening, but no matter.

Have even started recommending Telkom as an ISP to people who ask.

Fingers crossed I don't get egg on my face 12 months down the line... :)

Having the same issue as you, after 7 or so latency goes through the roof, during the day its fine.
 
Can someone be so kind as to point me to a decent site for listings on nzb files. Was interested in seeing what there is etc, etc. I know it was listed here somewhere on this thread but can't seem to see it. A mate of mine is on newhost.za.net and but they don't allow for signups so are there any others out that that I could use? Greatly appreciate the help chaps.
 
My second month is almost done and i've done 150gb so far on a 1MB line.
First month I did 160gb.
Speed has been inconsistent after around 130gb (I'm guessing that's when Telkom's shaping policy kicks in) but still downloads work fine after 11pm but not at full speed (roughly around 60-75Kb).
All in all I'm very happy with TI as my ISP of choice. :)

Don't get me wrong - when the service works it works really well - surprisingly well in fact - they're just not very good at handling issues (from a customer service perspective) and right now they're in a period where there's lots of issues as they make changes to cater for the additional customer load they've been hit with - to paraphrase Ranger VERY loosely...
 
Which dns should I be using up in PTA? I seem to be having some issues when it is set to automatically obtain dns.
