This is what I and many others await feedback on. When Hulu and other high quality streaming goes pear shaped and buffers during weekday evenings, why oh why does Afrihost or similar other accounts work perfectly ?

Come Telkom. Tell us.

since the speed increase my internet has become extremely unstable. Having to reset the router multiple times a day.

I'd say the bigger issue seems to be the difference between experience from user to user.
I have no problems with Hulu.
Streams perfectly.

What the hell is going on! Slow local and international browsing. Frustrated. Phoned Telkom, did a reset and still the same. Going on for 2 weeks now. Suspect it started at the same time as the speed upgrades. I used to get a ping of around 14ms to 17ms max. Now my pings vary between 800ms and 1600ms. I am on the 4Mbps package. I was one of the unlucky ones that could not be upgraded to 10Mbps due to my exchange not supporting more than 4Mbps. I can see the exchange from my balcony. +- 150 metres away. I don't care about the "free" upgrades, I just want my product to work as it should.

Then are they shaping and prioritising on a per user basis then ?

I hardly download anything and the TI Tracker is always in the green, way to the left, so I'm not an abuser of the network.

Would love to know the answer to this.

What the hell is TI tracker?

That's terrible, are you using TI's DNS servers?

Maybe your exchange is congested?

I have "enable automatic assigned DNS" selected. This correct? Screen Shot 2013-12-05 at 10.07.15.png
I am in the Durbanville, Cape Town area.

I've never had this problem before. Even since the 384 speed days. Always performed well. This started about 2 weeks ago.

PE is routed through CT and I'm currently assigned the following:

Ranger discussed problems with TI's auto assigned DNS servers a couple of months ago - maybe try these and see if things improve.

THANK YOU!!
This helped.
Why the hell does the Telkom representatives not try this with customers over the phone. Useless. Just keep telling me to restart the damn router and wait 15 minutes for all to return to normal and then nothing!
Thanks again. Back to normal: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3145519408

Doesn't seem to working this month for uncapped (capped accounts are OK), I've done 50GB and there's still no bar showing.

Working fine for me.
But I'm still on the 2mb data account with 4mb speed.
Are you on 4mb data account?
maybe you haven't used enough to get the line moving.

Great :)

I wonder how many of the current issues are DNS related. Back when ranger discussed DNS server problems he recommended the following for CT:

Primary: 196.43.46.190
Secondary: 196 .43.42.190

There were recommendations for Joburg as well but I don't have them, Durban users were having problems then so maybe they can refresh the "hive" memory?
