Aaarg. Everything was going great. Now moving house - there is an existing line in the house. Am now told telkom will not be able to provide me with adsl until around march?? No capacity. I would understand if I was in the sticks but this is almost literally the middle of Cape Town. 3 months. Its just insane.

No capacity?

TelkomZA is the man! He has sorted out around 3 issues I have had over the last while and he is great.

Thanks guys. Sent him a PM - also to another guy I found in a similar thread. Will see what happens. All I know is that 3 months without internet will screw me over big time. And wireless is not an option since I need to upload masses of data for work when I work at home. Holding thumbs and sweating bullets.

You have to give a month notice to leave Telkom right?

Also what is the easiest way? (fill in a form, call, email, etc)

Anyone having newsgroup issues? getting 150KB/s on 10MB (done 260GB this month)

Which Newsgroup you using, free (ISP) or paid for service? Im using Nextgen and i've been getting max speed since last night, getting about 450Kbps (4 Meg line).

Can anyone tell me if I should call telkom at 10210 to cancel Telkom as my ISP or is there a different route I should follow?

Phone 10210 but be warned, TI will cancel it there & then. You've probably already been billed for Jan but will receive a credit on your next invoice.

I thought you had to give them one months notice? So you're telling me that no matter what I tell them they will cancel my account with immediate effect and just put the ISP cost on credit on my account?

That's the way it works, I cancelled my 20+20 capped account Nov 28 and it died when she hit the button at her end.

NB:
1) If you want to keep your TI email say so before they cancel.
2) Pay your current invoice in full, do not anticipate the credit and short pay as you could get cut off.

Ok, ty. Then I'll call tomorrow to get it cancelled.

I've been giving Telkom hell about my lines poor performance so I think it's only fair that I give them props for sorting it out.

Line is running great now.

Hi guys how much more or less are you supposed to get on 2mb account, reason i am asking is because i got throttled at 108 gb,does that sound about right. It seems a rip off to me,if so what do i do next.

I don't have a 2Mbps line, but that sounds less than 50% of what you should be getting. Were you moved to 2 meg as part of the upgrade process? If so, you are probably still on a 1 meg profile. Contact @TelkomZA or Ranger here on the forum.

Thanks will do when i asked them they said the graph looks right,go figure.Soz yes upgraded from 1mb to 2mb.

I think the 2 meg guys were doing between 200 and 260GB. If you read a bit back you should find it.
