I think the 2 meg guys were doing between 200 and 260GB. If you read a bit back you should find it.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Thanks will do when i asked them they said the graph looks right,go figure.Soz yes upgraded from 1mb to 2mb.

How do you know you being throttled tho? Are u a power user on the titracker with your tracker bar completely red??

Correct all red but surely i am entitled to use what is allocated to me for 2mb line sorry to say but seems like unfairness and corruption still going strong in telkom land and elsewhere, basically screwed if you do and screwed if you dont.

After just 2 days of great internet I'm back to square 1.

That is not an ISP (TelkomInternet) fault therefore doesn't belong in this thread.

What are you talking about? Telkom is his ISP so any issues he has with the service may go in this thread.

Those tracerts point to an infrastructure problem (congested exchanges) so its a Telkom problem not a Telkom Internet problem, I think Big Bean is right. This is a "line fault" not an account/service fault

I don't get Telkom's shaping. If you become a 'power user' or get throttled status after say the first 20 days, you are shaped for the last 10 days of the month. But then on the 1st of the next month the shaping is reset. So the only time people get shaped will be closer to the end of the month. That's not a good way to maintain consistent control of their network?

Hey how did you guys sign up for Telkom Internet? The website just spits out java errors during signup :(

Ranger and the team have put a lot of work into the QoS to the point where I cancelled my primary capped account and now run on TI 10Mbps uncapped for business & pleasure. The performance remains smooth all month with no slowing at monthend so I guess they got the QoS right plus I haven't seen many reports of people going red on TiTracker and being throttled.

You have to admit that reseting throttled accounts on the 1st of the month beats the rolling window ISPs model into a cocked hat.

You were given some good advice... contact Telkom and confirm that you are indeed on a 2Mbps ISP profile, as there is no way that you are meant to be throttled at 108GB on a 2Mbps service.

BTW I've had an awesome day! Good, highly profitable day at work, Liverpool won, Everton lost points, Man Utd currently losing to Spurs...

Tell us more about the unfairness and corruption still going on at Telkom?

Yah seems i lost this round old micks cant compete with liverpool :).Just had rotten luck when it comes to telkom, tried contacting telkom isp but its like hitting your head against a wall.Sorry just venting glad things are going awesome for you send some luck my way please.

No problems!

1. Send your TI username details to either (or both) TelkomZA and ranger and have them check your ISP profile.
2. Send your Telkom telephone number and a result of a tracert (test to www.telkom.co.za) to TelkomZA to determine whether your ADSL line is faulty or your DSLAM is congested.

Riot Games' servers are currently under stress and they have had to change their routing again. Just the typical result of bad management.

Anyway I think that the IP addresses are being classed as non-game data and are being throttled. The IP addresses from logs are 31.186.242.xx.

I joined Telkom in December on a 2Mb Uncapped account mainly for streaming shows and movies (I don't game and generally don't run big downloads that often).

I must say, I found the 2Mb line entirely insufficient for streaming (specifically Hulu). Most of the time it does fine for one, maybe two episodes or maybe one movie, but then after that it starts buffering 3 to 5 times per episode, even on short (20 minute) shows.

So I upgraded to the 4Mb uncapped package in early January hoping this would be more than enough to cover my needs and I swear it has brought absolutely NO change. My download speeds in general are way up, but streaming has remained almost exactly the same. Still does fine for the first two episodes of the day, then after that it buffers a good couple of times per episode, sometimes buffering for minutes on end. This happens regardless of time of day.

I've checked my usage and I'm nowhere near power user status yet. I've run speedtest and am hitting on average between 2.5 and 3.5Mbps down with 20-40ms ping locally and 250-270ms internationally. I've also checked 100 websites on how to optimise your web browser for streaming, which I've done, but nothing seems to work. Tried different browsers and different computers, nada. I'm actually streaming a movie currently at medium quality and it has buffered (sometimes for like a minute or more) about 6 times in the past hour, which I think is absurd if you're on a 4Mb line? Almost every site I've checked has said that the minimum line speed for smooth streaming is 2Mb, so why was my 2Mb line not sufficient and, more importantly, why is my 4Mb battling to stream properly?

If it helps: I'm based in North Riding, Joburg.
