I have my dispute open, and will collect once they have resolved it all.

One question though...why so much lag to local Gaming servers if the problem is with international links?

I couldn't say really.
I had issues last week like the rest of you but throughout the week I was still able to use nntp at full speed.

I had a minor blip last week, changed my DNS routing and continued merrily.

Was getting 800KB/s until 30min ago...dead again.
I'm guessing that individual satisfaction depends on ones expectations.

Not being into gaming or Netflix etc means I'm not qualified to comment on problems in these areas plus I don't run esoteric routing just the bog standard DNS TI servers (when possible).

As my network is primarily work related I would never try to max out my line speed on a single protocol - vpn tunnels, torrents, http, nntp etc. All have upload/download speed limits set (time dependant) and max job limits.

ATM (touch wood:whistle:) TI performance is back to normal in respect of my requirements but I can appreciate this might not be the case for all TI users.

Generally speaking I'm a happy TI user but the deafening silence over the past weeks problems is concerning, TI urgently need an official rep on MyBB to answer TI specific queries. It's unfair to expect TelkomZA to field queries for all Telkom subsidiaries.

If Telkom do not provide the minimum speed can we not request a refund for the time that they where unable to provide the minimum speed? This has been happening since the beginning of Jan.

You can lodge a dispute with their billing department. I have 2 running with them at the moment. One for the period between 19 and the 30 December when the exchange I was connected to was only operating at half capacity and this new issue of poor speed and latency which manifested itself on the 5th of January for me.

It takes a while though because they first have to investigate.

Why Paris?

No particular reason.

Explain please, what you did with your DNS settings?

If this is a international problem - and nothing to do with Telkom - how come is it fine after 12am, until about 8am?

Finally got a reply from TelkomZA :), thanks Charl.

I have downloaded 350GB on a 4mbps line for the month of January and my account has been throttled, so for anyone wondering what the thresholds are now you know.

I do not use torrents, all traffic is NNTP, Steam and Origin.

So looks like I will be cancelling and going back to Openweb, I no longer use Netflix so my previous issue on Openweb is not relevant.

That doesn't make sense considering I got 320gb on a 2mb line.
I didn't do it by the 14th of the month though.
That;s your problem imo.

Had a look and the line and DSLam traffic all testing fine, you have downloaded 350gig for the month and according to Telkom Internet the FUP is currently active on your account.
This will cause reduced speeds up an till the end of the month unfortunately.

To prove, it would be appreciated if you can connect with the test account below to confirm that your speeds are fine.

A lot of things could have contributed to your throttling. Most noticeably that you have done 350GB in the space of 13 days on a 4Mbps line... That is a lot by anybodies standards!

You must have run your line 24/7.

Origin and Steam yes, generally NNTP traffic is set on a schedule unless there was something I wanted while I was on leave.

Regardless, I was able to get more down on Openweb with 0 issue.

350GB's is not that much :)
