Well I hope they sort themselves out quickly.
I signed up for the R512, 2mb line special.
My new line is being installed tomorrow. Hope I'm not going to regret it.

After all the discounts I am paying R520, including the analogue line rental for a 4mbps....

Ask for the 4mbps account with the do discount then apply for the 25% discount.

Just so you know, cancellation has a 30 day notice period from the day of cancellation so it is not immediate, just went through the process.

Also contacted the accounts department who confirmed 30 days.
Good to know, I suspected they might have changed things when Decembers invoices listed all line items with the billing cycle dates (27th Dec - 26th Jan in my case), prior to that the data account items were calender month (Nov, Dec etc).

I assume your 4Mbps Uncapped is still working, on what date will it terminate? (Last time I cancelled a TI data account, Nov 2013, it died when she hit cancel on the system).

The last time I cancelled with Telkom it was a calendar month, but the call centre agent says 30 days so the 14/02/2014, however have a feeling it will only be end of Feb as there was a lot of aye, eish and hmmm in the conversation.

So that will probably another fight I have with them next month.

My 4mbps is active and connected, working, don't know about that lol

I found the reason

Telkom CFO to pay back R6 million loan - Jacques Schindehutte, the suspended chief financial officer at Telkom, is set to pay back a R5.96 million loan awarded to him by the company in September.

As terrible as the above result is, it's pretty awesome compared to:

It's worse than before. Spiking to over 1500 and dropping packets.

Yep - it's broken again in PE as well :(

Cancel that, they must have been checking if we were still awake - back to normal again.

Excuse my ignorance but what are these discounts and how do I apply for it? I'm an OAP.

I'm not being routed through Telia and yet I'm still suffering horribly on this Telkom account...

Thats another thing, its not a Telkom side problem, yet some Telkom clients arn't affected.

Who said it was not a Telkom problem? Of course it is. If only Telkom clients are affected it is a Telkom problem, does not matter whether the problem is this side of Benoni or in London!

Crawling here in Joburg. Funny, besides pings, browsing has been fine for the past week or two... Now its horrible

We believe most problems should be fixed as of around 17h30. If you're still getting very slow access, please provide:
-traceroute to the server
-speedtests (local and international on speedtest.mybroadband.co.za are fine)

This is all backend contention, they probably didn't plan accordingly for the mandatory upgrades, get used to it, it should be a few weeks till they get their crap together, this is as much a financial crisis at Telkom Internet as it is infrastructure.

No, there was a different issue, which should now be resolved.
