Spiderman 2 on a 2GB account -> I can download better quality from a warez site hosted on a dialup. A decent, 30 minute sitcom takes around 250MB to get nice quality. Telkom, u are losers.
 
Just wondering.. a DVD being R16 to rent from most video stores and regular shows being broadcast over terrestrial TV for +-R20/month (TV license fee) - who is actually going to use this unless Telkom charges less than R16 for online movies and streams TV for free?

All of the monopolies I hate in one big witches brew. Telkom/Microsoft versus Multichoice. I really don't care much who loses. The whole lot makes me ill.

DStv gets worse by the month. The best to watch is the History Channel, which is not saying much. Even Discovery is going downhill and can only dish up reruns of Mythbusters. The movie channels serve up stuff that I rented on DVD last year. If you are a sport fan Supersport seems to deliver the goods, but I'm not. Who cares which team wins this week's rugby/cricket/whatever? There will be another game next Wednesday.

Tv sucks for the most part. A while back, I found myself looking at popular shows abroad, thinking we are being screwed as always. Well, colour me suprised, if we do not get a majority of the "good" stuff anyways (even if slightly delayed).
 
Now you know why there is no more local uncapped. Telkom is trying to make more profit without spending any of their siffy shareholders money. Once again, stakeholders suffer, shareholders win.

Exactly. Nobody is going to pay R100 just to watch a movie once. I've read somewhere that Telskum is going to use 4 MB lines, but only for their triple play product and not for broadband. Why? Because of the cap!

Even if they do manage to stream the video for cheaper, how will they explain higher bandwidth prices for Internet services?

No need to explain. Everyone knows that video data is "lighter" than "internet" data, and therefore
a) Travels faster
b) produces less wear and tear

Nope, don't you understand???:confused: , buy streaming media over their misserable 3gig cap they can brand everybody abusers of ADSL and who knows, maybe the idiots in charge can then implement a 1gig cap because every household who dares to watch half a movie is abusing the network---
