Telkom its own worst enemy?

Seems like this employee chose the wrong phokeng town to steal some phokeng cables from. Bahaha Telkom, you should rather go into the demolitions business, all you're good at is breaking **** down.

By the time LLU is given the go ahead there will be nothing left to unbundle lmao.....

let karma take care of the thieving bastards...

Even if a man with a plan magically appears tomorrow

Irony is they had one - he resigned because they wouldn't allow him.
Personally, I blame the government.
Phokeng corrupt ANC!

bummer.. At least there is ADSL and at least you can now get up to 10MB if you're lucky.. still pricey unfortunately.. and at least there is reasonable uncapped offerings (thanks to organizations that actually focusses on producing value for others)

... why do I get the idea that Telkom would fall apart once LLU happens??? the LL is their cashcow? no?

I reckon we could loose Telkom to the Chinese.

Telkom just took out a HUGE loan with the Chinese, apparently to fund 8.ta, but I honestly don't think 8.ta is gonna fly & Telkom might use the loan to keep the mothership from crash-landing.

Just my 2c.

I want to be surprised or horrified, but it's just not possible. At least the fella got ratted on.

I wonder if the DOC or ICASA have the political will to sort out Telkom.

That might just be the best thing that can ever happen to Telkom. China is quickly growing to become one of the most powerful countries in the world. Too many things come from China.

if the Chinese ran the show, we would have 100Mbit FIOS connections at R99 a pop.

Ah yes, but we couldn't do much with those connections. The Chinese aren't big fans of evir capitarist concepts like freedom of expression or uncensored content.

Ever hear of the Great Firewall of China?

How much are Telkom employees paid vs their Eskom counterparts?? No wonder Copper theft is not decreasing.

Telkom Employees who are ripping up cable are not thieves - they're revolutionary comrades, bent on destroying the beast from within. Brave souls ^_^

Telkom really needs to die now. Or as ^^^ taken over by Chinese.

As much as we would love telkom dead it wont happen, but that said as much as we wish they improve that wont happen either. So what are we to do! stuck with them and only hope they either get a care bear to help the community or some fantastic company feels like taking them over.

Oh Man... This is so infuriating!!!!! F**** F****.....

Really now...???? To look at me and tell me that a billion rand company that is listed on the stock exchange is better off being sold than invested in purely because of corruption and theft??? LoL... Their own employees are stealing their own copper infrastructure??? WTF??...

This is a very sad article to read. After the world up I was really under the impression that despite our political issues, generally speaking this country is on the up. Especially in the telecoms space.
But to read this in 2011 after all that we have achieved from a telecoms perspective and all the ADSL fighting over the years... It makes me sick.

To have a company that is more interested in screwing you, than helping you and the rest of your country achieve a better local IT landscape.

I am not surprised at all. I could have told you this 10 years ago.

The most sad part for me is that yet again. Individuals who are abusing their power and setting bad examples to the rest of the country are stealing money, hampering progress, constantly putting us ad a disadvantage regarding telecoms and IT from a competitive perspective to the rest of the world... and the best part is... they have no skin on their face to openly and blatantly do what they want and have a smile on their faces.

REally i am at a loss for words...??? The ANC once again are setting us back another 10 years... All in the name of freedom, democracy and equality aka (thievery, bribery and corruption) ....
