Telkom just gave me a prezzi!

so basically what you guys are saying is that if we got 384k line its going to be 1mb line now.

does this still apply if my line is with telkom but my isp is MWEB?

because two days back i never had adsl for the whole day as the telkom guys were working with the big box at the beginning of our neighbourhood...

must i reset my router:D or something!!!!!
 
My 384k's upload was upgraded to 640k about 2 months ago, guess it's a prezzi. Wish it was the other way around though.
 
just check your router guys (if you have one). Thats how i found out. If you using a modem then i am sorry i really have no idea.
 
How do you even know its for sure? What if its just a trial like the Web Africa thing with the new network infrastrucure?? Are there any reliable sources??
 
^^ mmm Open your router settings (192.168.0.1) and check what your line is syncing to. I think that might be the best way?
 
Lol, you have to check your router settings, not speedtest. You could use speedtest, but you should check your router.
 
Let's hope all those TV ads about the NGN isn't just a scam and only involves the stupid little fibre duct for the 20Gb/s*2 lines that FIFA require.

Let's hope they are actually getting ready to upgrade us all. I'm just hoping if they are planning on upgrading our line speeds, that they make a fair decision. 384Kb to 512Kb would really not impress me
 
^^ agree.. If telkom up us all to 8meg connections (that actually give real world speeds of 6megs and up) and give us an additional 5 -10gigs of data a month for around R500 i think i might - but just might - be able to forgive them for all the sh*t they have created for SA telecoms/internet. Oh if they also drop there stupid stupid line rental fee that would be a bonus.

(Sh*t, At least I can dream, telkom hasnt taken that away from me yet)

They didn't create any sh*t though. DoC and ICASA did. Telkom just took advantage of the incompetence. I know I would probably have done the same - it's not their job to fix regulatory requirements and create a competitive environment. It's their job to turn a profit.

Lol, they took advantage of incompetence with incompetence, so it must have been really incompetent :)

They're incompetent because they have nobody to answer to apart from their shareholders :) There's no need to care about service levels when you're effectively being given that amount of money for mahala.
