Hey guys, so i wake up this morning, switch on my pc and my Internet is not working.. I think ok, check out my router settings, everything is legit, then reset my router. All resets well and then i see in my settings: DownStream Connection Speed - 4008kbps and UpStream Connection Speed 448kbps. Now i think to myself WTF? This is awsome. Phone up telkom to findout if i am going to get billed for this. The nice lady on the phone says to me: Dont worry sir, you will not be billed anything more. An official statement will be released very very soon and I can expect a much better line by the end of the year:confused::D:confused::D. That was all she was allowed to tell me:eek: .

What a way to start the weekend!!!
Any one else got given a nice suprise?

PS: I was on a 512kbps line before this and now my internet is a racehose:)

Impressive! great news! So you have a 4mb line now, but paying for a 512k ?

Yeah mate.. From what i could gather from the Lady at the call centre, i will be paying the same amount. For some reason she wasnt able to give me anymore details. I suppose an official statement has to comeout first. WOOT!

Please let 384k become 1mb or even 2mb *holding thumbs* ... and I hope that this wasn't an isolated case either. Lets wait for the official statement first however, but this sounds awesome ! :D

I have also upgraded this week from 384 to 4096 ..... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Chances of that not being some telkom screw-up = ?

I applied for the upgraded and obviously they going to charge me R 413.00 per month

not to be a pessimist but I wouldn't trust anything some random chick says to me on the phone, how often do you phone telkom and 1 guy says this and 1 guy says that.

Proberbly was a system error and you'r going to get a "nice" bill at the end of the month. Hopefully I'm wrong and they'll bump 4mb->8mb, only time will tell tho. *holding thumbs*

Let me go outside and see if it's snowing LOL LOL ...... from 4mb to 8mb hahahahahahahahaahahahah

I hope not. Just letting you guys know what happened. I know as much info as you guys. I also hope they bump up 4mb - 8mb.
Maybe i form part of Beta testing?? I really have no idea. I really hope the "official statement" comes out next week or so so we can all benifit.

BTW, I am in Houghton, Johannesburg.

Forget your sync speed - are you actually downloading at 4mb/s?

:D Telkom just gave me a prezzi!

Don't worry. Any good proctologist will be able to remove it. :o

Oh, you were being serious. My bad. :p

Telkom: Our official statement is that we made a mistake, this has never happened before, and we will be setting your line back to the correct speed of 128k in the near future. We apologise for giving you a glimpse of what true broadband could be like in South Africa and will thus charge you an extra R500 for fixing the problem. Now please bend over just a little more.
