i doubt this is true, this 384 line can't handle the speed anymore, 512k will burn down the telephone pole.

Life for ADSL in this area is over, adsl 2+ is just a dream.
 
While I really want to be optimistic about this, I have some serious doubts.

I'm in melville, we probably use the same exchange (the telkom building close to campus square?).
I'll keep an eye on my sync speed. Running 4Mbit now.

Right, I've worked out how this "next gen network" works.

This morning the creator of this thread reported that his 512kb line was bumped to 4mb. This afternoon when I got home, my 4mb line is only syncing at 3mb.

Sooo, here's my theory. The "next gen network" works on the "African distrobution of wealth" model, whereby you steal from the rich 4mb users and dish it out to the poor 512kb users!

Yes, this post is a joke :) (Still, I am really a mb short tonight :( )
 
^^ lol could be. The funny thing is now that my line is now synicing at 3mb as well? weird stuff happening.
 
Excellent! I am all for Robin Hood law in the ADSL realm! Steal from those 4Mb bandwidth hogs and give it to us 384k line users! Yay!!!

only problem is, us 4M line hogs are paying our blood money to get a service that should be offered as standard in the first place, money that our wives and family think is being spent foolishly, we go without other luxuries just so that when we actually on the net, it works like its suppossed to :).....so Telkom can go and sux my n u t s...
All they getting out of me is line and adsl rental, all my BW buying is given to axxess with the utmost pleasure..
 
Guys Guys Guys - Just Maybe (this is just my idea):

Telkom is testing everything out. Some people will suffer today/this weekend/week to come, and some people will win. All this in line with some very very nice coming soon soon.

The lady i spoke to on the phone seemed very excited about something. For some reason I trust her. Lets just all wait and see whats happens soon soon.
 
i just checked my network at it says 1Gbs :eek:
