I upgraded my line with Cybersmart last week and they gave me a 10meg line. I didn't even know that was available yet. Speeds are impressive since then.
Everybody that believes the "upgrades" is coming June 1st, will be in for a big disappointment.
If they didn't announce this already, thinking that anything is going to happen WITHOUT an announcement on 1 June is rather over-optimistic. I say, they will ANNOUNCE the upgrade plans on 1 June , and chances it will then only actually happen in August. I mean why would Telkom be so quiet about this -8 days- before launching it? Surely they would market this on every billboard out there?
The only info we seem to have is "Telkom MIGHT upgrade" lines, no one really knows what exactly they will do, will they upgrade 4 mb only? Which areas? What about 384/512 etc etc.. . Also zero concrete info on their DATA/ISP plans.
Everything is rumours....-every single thing- , and not a peep from Telkom, yet people think this is all going to happen 1 June? Why?
Well something's in the air... Connected up a client today (installed his router, etc). He applied for DoBroadband 1, and was told at the Telkom shop: "We don't do that any more.'
They sold him the DoBroadband 2 package (He wanted the free modem). 384 line and 3 Gb bundled data.
I verified the line and it settled at 384 kbps.
What I deduce from this is that 1 Gb bundles must be falling away. 3 will be the smallest. But for the time being he's still paying the do 2 price (R259 or whatever it is).
Interesting.
You dont get the router with Do1 - maybe she was referring to that
I think that Telkom will use the world cup the see how their systems cope with the additional demand and then decide what upgrades they will implement.
fairly new, I thinkOh... Didn't know that...you always used to. Is that new?
The SWC is being run off a dedicated network....
What are they going to do with the dedicated network after the SWC?
Some people are so easy to satisfy. Little vision, few expectations. A 512k experience will only be marginally better than a 384k one, and in practical terms quite useless. It would be an upgrade not worth its name.i really hope 384k get upgraded to 512k.
