Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

I recently bought the telkom box but it keeps on changing language to chinese evertime it goes on standby, I have to keep changing it to english, how do I fix this???

Settings ➡️ Tv Settings ➡️ HDMI CEC ➡️ Auto change language should be off

I think through LG TVs do this for some reason ... What TV do you have?

I have an LG TV yes

I also have a lg tv. Also had the language problem in the beginning. Just change settings as posted and quoted 3 rows up. Will solve your problem. Worked for me back in the day.

7.1.2

Oreo on mibox. None of these things happening on mibox with 8.0, Also no problems when it had 6.0.

The A07 has older firmware (7.1.2) and the A11 has (If I recall) 7.2.3 - which fixed the TV Settings freeze.

Tx solved the issue.

Just got my Lit box. It crashed almost instantly after using it the 1st time, and kept crashing ever since with even the slightest use. So far my verdict is that it's an utter POS.

I have 2 off them and nary an issue except the recent YouTube crash every now and then after their last update.

Call the number on the box and demand a replacement. if within 7 days the CPI says that they MUST replace it no questions asked.

DO NOT go to a store to return it. You'll end up waiting a month and a half for them to replace.

I remember when I bought mine in store, they said I could return in within 7 days no questions asked, so I am pretty sure they do honor the CPI.

They are full of ****. and the staff are clueless.

They will tell you that they have to "book it in for repair"

Their Ts&Cs state that the repair centre needs to verify that the fault is with the device and not the user's fault.

Just make sure that you make a noise if they give you ****.

Youtube kept on freezing over over last night. Latest version. Same problem. Had to uninstall all updates and roll back to original version and now its playing just fine again. Older version however is not as user friendly as the newer versions.
Same issue here! Rolled back and working fine but don't like the older UI.

Did try and change a few settings in developer options

Force GPU rendering - Enabled
Force 4 X MSAA - Enabled

Still no luck, it happens randomly from what I can tell. Either watching a video or browsing through the UI.

Will take the LIT box to the Menlyn branch tomorrow. The thing won't even switch on now. At first when plugging the device in it booted and crashed. A few tries later it booted correctly, but then crashed once Android was loaded. Now when I plug in the power cable the red lights on the device come on, then the blue ones, then nothing happens further. Blank screen.

Mine also did this and ended up being the hdmi port that was faulty.
Just to make sure can you maybe test with another hdmi cable? Also if possible maybe another tv?
You can also attempt recovery mode by holding down the “ok” button and “back” button on the remote simultaneously while plugging in the device. If you still get no picture your last option to confirm a faulty hdmi port is to plug the box into your tv via the av to component/composite ports. If you get a picture this way it confirms a faulty hdmi port (after trying above mentioned).
If this is the case I wish you the best of luck in dealing with telkom staff and their process of booking in the device.
You are going to need to drink some heart medication before the time as this/their whole process might cause a stroke.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did manage to exchange the unit for another one at the Telkom store. It was one hell of a tedious procedure. Had to pull out the 7 day card before I got a favourable response. So far the new box works just fine.

Glad you came right - pretty decent box all in all. Enjoy.
