Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

So, update. Some research is showing that that remote I had is no good for this. It uses meta keys etc, which breaks most android keymappers.

Just ordered a FLIRC2 from PiShop. Will document the setup process for those interested.

Have noted that the LIT doesn't seem to have bluetooth which means a Hub wouldn't have worked, I suspect. Unless the hub can be a wlan remote. Don't know.

It definitely has Bluetooth.

I paired my phone to it.

Nope. Can't pair phone. Phone doesn't see device, device doesn't see phone.

No blueteefs on this one. Maybe there are different hardware versions as well...?

Very strange.

Surely it wouldn’t be in the menu if the hardware isn’t there?

Is your remote dongle plugged in? Maybe that was BT after all?

There is a running app with bluetooth in the name...thinks its a bluetooth remote.
Had another bluetooth mouse paired a while ago. Defnitely bluetooth enabled device. The remote also seems to be bluetooth...but system app and doesnt show under bluetooth devices.

If the remote is really Bluetooth and not just RF then it’s dongle may be what provides the hardware.

Although that would surely have been built into the WiFi chip.

Dongle was plugged in.

Come to think of it, this is probably why the android simplified setup from my phone didn't work...

Is my device faulty or are there others out there with no BT?

Guys with bluetooth, I'd like to test a theory. Would you mind PM-ing me the first 9 characters of your serial number?

Can somebody please confirm whether their Litbox switches the refresh rate automatic between different sources, i.e. 24, 25, 30 fps? My output to tv stays on 60 fps which results in dropped/duplicated frames and therefore panning scenes not being smooth.

This is a killer for me coming from a standalone Kodi box which does 100% smooth playback.

Does your screen go off and come on while adjusting the output resolution or frame rate???

Ac3 audio, does the lit support it or not?
Have an 8 year old standard hd tv, nothing fancy. Used to have laptop plugged in by hdmi cable and all formats was playable. Now lit box is plugged in with hdmi cable. If i play through plex ,streaming from plex server, or with mx player, hd plugged into lit box, movies with ac3 sound doesnt play. Am i missing something?

So no matter the way of playback - ac3 movies dont have sound? Sounds like a software problem. Tried VLC (sideloaded) playback from HDD source yet?

Sounds like the tv can't handle ac3 audio, the lit box is passing it through while the laptop was decoding it...?

Hi Guys

I bought the LIT box on Saturday and have had 0 issues so far with it. I got DSTV and netflix working without a problem. But i can't seem to find a AD Free Version of Terrarium anywhere. The link pinned on the first page is not working

When using the laptop i used windows media player from windows 10, not sure it was decoding it. Is anyone else using ac3 files?

AC3 worked fine for me, but on an AC3 supported system.

Sounds like the LIT is sending AC3 while the TV only understands Stereo.

So make sure your audio output is set to stereo only. And disable any Passthrough options.

In Plex enable the boost function too.
