Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Anyone been able to successfully use the micro USB OTG slot on the box? Nothing I plug into it is being picked up. Beginning to think it doesn't actually work.

I think you will find it is used to flash firmware on the box like most other android boxes.

Anyone had a problem specifically with a Stereo setup (regular TV sound) not outputting anything when receiving an AC3 5.1 soundtrack?

This is specific to Plex as I haven’t had much else to test it with.

Seems the box doesn’t report itself as not supporting 5.1 and therefore doesn’t know what to do when it receives it.

Whereas if it respected the Stereo factor it would transcode it to 2.0 beforehand.

I only recently started using plex. I found its better to use the plex addon in Kodi on the lit box than to use the Plex app. At least Kodi have proper configuration whereas with the Plex app there is very little to allow you to fix those sound issues.

I have the same issue, receiver supports 7.1 and DTS-MA ect. But the lit box can only send PCM stereo of DD 5.1. At least with Kodi I can transcode the audio to 5.1 or send 2.0 stereo.

Yeah I read that is an option.

But this is for my folks to the less complex the better.

Worth the try if it solves the problem though.

Do you host the Plex server for them?

Do you need something they can do themselves or can you help?

Well there is a local one at their place but I manage it and then they also connect to mine.

In the old days I know you could setup the XML profiles to force Stereo but that seems to have been deprecated.

Other option is to make optimised versions but that will eat too much hard drive space.

So the Plex on Kodi option seems simplest, especially if it can boot straight into that.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest, play something on the device and check the webUI to see what profile it uses, edit that XML profile and remove AC3 from the list of direct play options.

Having the same issue so will try this.

Yeah sadly that option seems to have buggered off.

Or the documentation isn’t up to date as I don’t find the Profiles folder or any defaults.

This stuff should really be in the GUI by now.

Yeah their PMS is on Windows, mine is on Linux.

But Plex on Kodi did the job.

The Kodi addon has an option, to boot straight into the kodi plex addon after kodi starts up. Takes 2-4 seconds or so.

Yeah found it and fortunately pressing home on the Lit remote resolves the problem of it exiting into Kodi.

And Plex for Kodi actually has a nicer interface too. **** I wish they would make their minds up about that or just give you the options to select one across all platforms.

Between Apple TV, Android TV, Xbox One, Plex Media Player and then Plex for Windows Store and then Plex for Kodi it’s all bloody different.

So finally signed up for Netflix as my parents Plex box is dying for movies when I'm at my place.
Any one have a working APK I can use?

So I've found that http downloads from overseas are shiite on the box.
Buffering problems etc.

Can't tune the TCP stack at all.

So I installed squid on my Nas box and pointed the lit at it. Makes a huge difference....

Guide for us slower peeps

Yeah um. It is kind of dependant on having a machine up and running all the time (hence my Nas).
Install squid, start squid, set proxy on lit config, kodi config etc to point to squid... Not really Noob stuff.
