Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

All this talk about Netflix that have been dropped on the Lit Box, yet I don't see any significant number for sale. Just had a look here, and Gumtree.

Netflix not that important to most, or the Kodi workaround posted must be sufficient .

Kodi FTW

Ok. So got this to work. Just the video quality that sucks.

Got the video quality sorted as well.
Netflix works like a charm. The wife just have to get use to the new interface, but it's working.
Screen shot or photo of the UI please? Works ok with remote?

I use it in KODI. So the UI is nothing major. Looks just like whatever your KODI looks like (if you have KODI installed).

Video Quality is same as before. I use one of those Keyboard/Mouse Remotes since day one. I've never used the remote that came with the LIT box since I got it.

I can confirm the standard remote works as well.
@Piesang how did you get 1080p? Player info shows 720p.

I'm confused. So none of these box work with netflix?
I can comment on the maverick as I have recently gotten one.

These streaming apps work on it: Netflix,Amazon prime, dstv, showmax, Apple tv and dazn. + any others that are on the sa Google tv store.

The only one currently available in SA that is an issue is Britbox because they don't have a Google tv app. Mediabox when I asked them about britbox said the moment they provide an App it will show on the Google store.

Disney + doesn't currently show in the SA playstore, presume it will become available once it launches in SA.

Very happy with my maverick. Interface is fast and smooth. Apps update regularly.

Yeah, thanks for your input, that was also my experience with ematic aswell. Don't know what the issue some other guy had with his maverick could have been.

@Xiphos or whoever else knows: I have installed Netflix on Kodi 19 as per Xiphos instructions. But cannot open it or access the widevine etc settings login. I am a paying Netflix subscriber and I have a username and password. It won't accept it. (I tried the username and password on my cellphone and it works immediately) on Kodi it says that if you can't login with username and password you can download an authentication key and instructions are on GitHub.

I did all that. And I have a 4 digit key. Now what? How do I get it into the android box? I tried to extract the zip file to a USB and plugged it in and clicked on get authentication key, but lit box doesn't seem to do anything with it. It sees the file but doesn't read it or know what to do with it.

So I can't use the workaround because I can't login to Netflix via Kodi.
Any solutions?

So after you installed Kodi19 and installed the CastagnaIT's Netflix repo and add-on, Did this install fine?
Are you connected via LAN or WiFi? I prefer the LAN as it more stable.

If so:
Look for video addons and the Netflix addon, then click on configure.
Change to expert mode
Scroll down to expert tab on the left
In the middle look for the ESN section and open
Click on reset then the ESN should appear Click change esn Only the NFANDROID2 to 1 save apply
Note that Netflix for KODI has a background service and will usually not run if this service doesn't start.

Mine and all others I've done worked first time and could log in with no problem.

Perhaps try logging out of all devices from the Netflix account page from your PC browser and try again.

After putting in the authentication key, I had to put in my password. Then change the ESN and there after all is well, except I do not know Kodi well.

Yea if you haven't been using KODI it takes a while getting used too and navigate between apps and settings, but a very powerful media player so much options and customizations its not even funny the cool stuff you can get for your media on KODI.
I had to revert to Back to KODI after Microsoft stopped their Windows Media centre, the old XBMC days with the XBOX ....sigh

Glad you eventually got it to work

You XBMCfan?

Yea back in the day it was the bees knees and it evolved so much over the years sadly you couldn't install kodi on an Xbox anymore.
Not sure about the new units though.

But the need for it faded over the years as player like Plex and MB/emby also came into fruition togeather with paid streaming services.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it. Will go through all my steps again when I have a chance to make sure I didn't make a mistake with anything.
