Hi,

I have been monitoring my local usage on https://secure.telkomsa.net/titracker/ for the last few days as I was over 15Gb and was keeping an eye on it make sure I did not go well over my 20Gb and then get charged. I have a 2Gb account.

Now today I go on and have a look and this is what I get :

HTML:
 Blended Usage for May
Uploaded 102.4447 MB
Downloaded 3.61 GB
Combined Total 3.7101 GB

Local Usage for May
Uploaded 31.0605 MB
Downloaded 1.3046 GB
Combined Total 1.335 GB
Last refreshed @15:23

My local usage seems to have reset and is now only showing 1Gb usage whereas I know it should probably be 15Gb plus! Does anyone know when Telkom reset these values? I was under the impression it was a calender month. I see my blended usage has not reset though. Any ideas?

Telkom never resets my stats... *sigh*
I'm on 60GB of 30GB :( hahaha - Telkom is onto me ;)
But I won't even THINK about doing 300GB again ;)

Even if it seems to be reset, I wouldn't take the chance to download more ;)

Ha ha well it is good news if I am getting another 20Gb to use in the next 10 days!!!

But anyone saying they have experienced the same will be more useful than pointing out my good fortune!

Happens often, my local and international got halved on titracker.
Usually happens when I don't go online for a day or 2.

I'm sure it's Telkom's new ploy to rake in the cash. They reset the website counter but keep track of the actual usage on their side.

All the while the customer thinks he is below the threshold and continues using the service and at the same time feeling utterly happy and having this strange tingly sensation.

At end of month the poor bunny gets raped with a bill not even his banker can afford.

And thus Telkom is converting happy bunnies into Telscum bunnies with those bloodthirsty red eyes and sharp teeth ready to bite your head of whenever one mentions anything that starts with a T.

Typical...

My feeling exactly, so I won't take the chance ;)

Yeah I am thinking the same thing!! Use another 5 and play it safe I reckon!

Are people being charged R25 for the extra local gigs?

Of course a 30 minute call to 10215 merely resulted in them telling me exactly what I could see on my screen anyway (and that was both the accounts department and the "technical" department!!!) :)

was just going to say: rather play it safe but I see you know that already :p

If you have a look at the amount used by the usage graphs (look for the whole month of May) they usually have some weird math happening there ;)

I got reset once, checked by the usage graphs and it said something like: Up=1GB, Down=1GB, Total = 0.5GB !!!!

Yeah I noted that after chatting to them. Here is mine, the math is even worse!

Local
Downloaded : 16.5416 GB
Uploaded : 322.7964 MB
Total Bandwidth used : 16.8569 GB
Total Usage for May : 1.3395 GB

So really only the total usage figure is wrong which is the one shown on the "front page". Delve a little deeper and you should be able to see your true figure.

Could someone Help me out here please...
Titracker main page:

LOL - Only realised now that I've been reset aswell!! Its 13.XXX MB local usage, not 13000 MB! :D :D

TI Report(DSL Usage) for May:
Code:
 Blended

Total Usage for May : 1.XXXX GB

Downloaded : 3.XXXX GB

Total Bandwidth used : 4.XXXX GB
Total Usage for May : 13.XXXX MB
And ^this matches my "Audit Trail(All Usage)" for May.

Don't know what one I must trust. . .

Ha ha why so secretive with all the X's? :)

What I have noted on mine is the "Total Bandwidth used" figure seems to be correct. Not the "Total Usage for May"

Its private info the last time I checked... So I'd like to keep it that way ;)

Fair enough but what you have done is like saying it is safer to lock your door but then leave the keys outside in the keyhole! From the info you have told us we can pretty much work out what you have used anyway... not sure what we are going to be able to do if we know you uploaded 163Mb for instance?!?!

Anyway....

I haven't been charged extra yet since they decided that we should be charged extra for going over. So AFAIK they don't charge extra. Might be because it is too much effort integrating the account's dep's systems with the tracker esp. since the tracker can be wrong a whole lot of the time. Easiest way to deter people from abusing is to scare them by apparently charging ±R25 for every gig gone over on your allocated amount.
