Telkom LTE Advanced broadband network tested

MyBroadband took Telkom’s new LTE Advanced network for a spin, and the results were somewhat surprising.

Some observations:
1. No signal strength indication
2. There is something wrong with your Teraco servers.
3. Your speeds is very low. On normal LTE I get much better results than this.
4. What device did you use?
5. I assume you did not use external antennas. (why not?)

Telkom LTE Leaderboard

Most of these speeds are taken before these upgrades. Latency for me is pretty decent - I can do battle.net at 190-240ms. For SC2 thats fine. Much much more stable than ADSL.

I'll mention it again, across many ISPs mybb speedtest results are usually lower. I don't know if all ISPs are prioritising speed test.net traffic or mybb servers are just under achieving??

Guess they did the test from their offices in Midstream Estates which are not in LOS of a tower.

I saw better results last week when testing the network speeds over there on an iPhone 6.

It would be nice if they could do the LTE-A test over again. And this time post more information like speed tests to other servers also. The fastest one they can find since I want to know how fast LTE-A can be (not how fast it can be to one specific server).

When I download from servers outside SA I can get 70Mbps but when I do a speed test to mybb servers I can't get 30Mbps...
