For various reasons I've been slack and not taken up Telkom LTE-A R 799.00 24 month contract. As fibre is still not available in my town I'm looking at buying my own router and going for the sim only month to month option. As I have become more disillusioned with DSTV with every passing month I have been looking at streaming content via third party apps through Kodi or Plex.

If I watched 3 hours of 'television' every day by streaming content how much data would I consume on average on any given month ?

THANKS GUYS :):D

I use roughly 1GB per hour but it obviously depends on the quality you steam at.

I am sure you will find a cheap router second-hand as many users move over to fibre

No worries. Telkom's LTE performance has really gone backwards the last few months so the month to month is definitely the way to go.

Not sure I know what you mean by shouting.

With the advent of the Bulletin board system, or BBS, and later the Internet, typing messages in all caps became closely identified with "shouting" or attention-seeking behavior, and may be considered rude. As a result, netiquette generally discourages the use of all caps when posting messages online.

Netflix and ShowMax both have data management options and both offer a trial. Because each user's viewing is different, best to do a personal test taking into consideration what you learn from here too. :)

Netflix plans here

ShowMax and there is a bandwidth calculator aswell here
:)

Remember both services offer sharing with family members so you can save more if you want. :p

Thank you Yuu for going to so much trouble to explain all this to me. It is greatly appreciated and I understand more. My work schedule is hectic so don't get as much time to learn about tech as I would like. Will use more lower case in future
