Telkom Media promises cheap TV

Hopefully not as cheap and stable as their DSL offerings.

Note to the author of this article: Please be aware that when Telkom says
it will extend competition and offer TV consumers more choice at attractive prices.
it does not necessarily mean
Telkom Media promises cheap TV

While "attractive prices" when used by most companies does indeed mean "cheap", this is not the case with Telkom. The TV will only be cheap when compared to Outer Mongolia or some other "comparable" country on their list.

They will never do it. Telkom = Sucks. They dnt have a faster enough networks. we need 24MB + to pull it off in the country. But the prices of Bandwidth is to high.

So it will FAIL.

i will agree with you on that one, i can only watch HD tv after 7:00 pm because BeThere informed me that there network are becoming more and more complex there having to upgrade there networks to cope with demand

and from what i heard telkom cant even get a 4mb line to work at full speed never mined 24mb

We believe we could penetrate some 25% of the total population currently underserved...

Thanks, but NO thanks... I've been 'penetrated' quite thoroughly by Telkom already...

HAHAHA

Oh yes, and die Telkom, DIE.

OMFW... the irony...

It gets even better:

Telkom Media has also applauded the transparency of the licensing process.

:D:rolleyes:

In this case Telkom actually faces real, entrenched competition in the form of Multichoice/DSTV so their standard monopolistic practices won't work, they might actually have to be competitive this time.

It will be a R199 subscription , but you can only watch TV for 3 hours per month before you get cut off and forced to buy more air time!

Unless when referring insidiously to a diseased and nearly retired hooker, "Telkom" and "Cheap" are mutually exclusive.

Maybe somebody should remind ICASA of Telkom's previous promise to serve the underserved in the telecommunications market. If I remember correctly they eventually payed a paltry penalty fee instead of keeping to their promise!

luv this bit "saying it will extend competition and offer TV consumers more choice at attractive prices".

G only if the Telecomms side of them could relize this..

Am I missing something!!! Did a quick lookup on some stats - there's around 200 000 people with DSL. The population of SA is around 47 Million. Thats a DSL footprint of 0.4%

Now if iptv works via DSL, how in the hell are they going to reach 25% of the population when only 0.4% currently have DSL???

That's Telkom Maths©®™ for you... :D :D
