Telkom Mobi pricing

It is interesting that Telkom includes voice minutes, SMSes and data with most of its mobile offerings. While 25MB – 100 MB of data (depending on your package) is not much, it is certainly of value for on-phone browsing.

Competition is most welcome – lets hope Vodacom, MTN and Cell C follows suit, with more value of course :D

It was launched months ago...

It can do with some changes though...

Such as getting rid of this:
Inclusive airtime apply to calls that are made to a Telkom Fixed or Mobi number

Making the inclusive minutes work for all calls should be a good start... Throwing in a few hundred Telkom-to-Telkom minutes in all packages wouldn't hurt either... If the Telkom-to-Telkom calls was priced at the same rates as long distance calls from a landline, many businesses would switch instantly...

OK, so let me understand... This is like Virgin with 3G steroids, but with one of the most hated brands instead of one of the most loved brands punting it. I'd say sell your Telkom shares after the Vodacom sale and cut your losses. I see they also lie about their coverage, but what's new? Even MTN does that.

well...finally...after years there will actually be competition in this country, lets hope internet prices follow soon lol

My first thoughts were: Damn, why did I get that R450 contract from MTN when I could get a lot more minutes from Telkom for only R50 more...

Then I saw this:

Making the inclusive minutes work for all calls should be a good start...

So does this mean that the free minutes are only on-net and to Telkom?

And a bit irritating:
... I see they also lie about their coverage, but what's new? ...
Please explain. I hate statements floating in the air. (I actually agree with a lot of your previous posts.)

The coverage is still small.......

doesnt even include where I live atm

Thinking about it, this is great news. They should have announced it earlier since I just signed a two year contract with Vodacom. Thinking about it, Telkom is real competition to Vodacom and MTN. They might actually introduce real competition. And I like the free data they throw in.

ppl, stay away from contracts. a lot can happen in 24 months, esp with the level of competition in the data space.

The be honest, I really like these packages. The included data is great as I often browse the net from my phone.

I cannot believe I am about to say this, but
"sounds good".

I can really see someone with only a cell phone (like my mom) benefiting from the 79c per minute to Telkom land line costs.

So are you willing to pay Telkom mobi so that they can pay Vodacom/other Cell Service Providers for roaming? The cell companies lease their lines from Telkom that connect their masts. So Telkom just smiles all the way?

The cell companies might start laying their own cables, but when will the public know? I guess we will never know. They might have finished laying cables and happily keep on charging us exorbitant prices because nobody can track anything that they bill, all cloak and dagger.

Don't give in.

I can just imagine, Telkom going to Vodacom, Mtn and ask for prices to use their towers. Mr September, since you raped us for so long please turnaround and hand the Vaseline.......
