So today is my first day on the 8ta Network. I am impressed with the ping and speed:

I also renewed 60 + 60 again today, mine was expired Feb 28, From then testing CellC & Vodacome.
Shocking new is Vodacom is worst than cellc where both are getting less than 1 MBPS but 8ta is getting more than 3 MBPS download speed.

I don’t know how Mybroadband can rate the average speed in Bloemfontein as 3.5Mbps : this is my average speed!

Upload Speed: 2547 kbps (318.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 118 ms

Happens to me too sometimes. Going back to the image on a different connection works using the same PC and browser :wtf:

EDIT: when I say works, I mean sometimes :p

Ok, let me put it this way: thirst they classified Bloemfontein as a suburb, The suburb in Bloemfontein that I stay is Fichardt Park and here My worst test result with 8ta is 3.5 Mbps. And my best is +10Mbps the average is about 8Mbps.

PS. this one was done after 12PM not a good time of day:

Download Speed: 7676 kbps (959.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2513 kbps (314.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 115 ms

Let me put it this way, MyBB rate a town/city by the average download speed achieved using their speed test site for that town/city. The average is 3.5Mbps, so your results are increasing that average (theoretically) while others below that are decreasing the average.... obvious? Good!

Not everyone has your connection (some people will have ADSL - 1Mbps, 2Mbps, etc. - iBurst, MTN, etc.) and not all are stable connections for that area but may be affordable for those people. So, just because you are getting good to great speeds doesn't mean the rest of the town/city are getting the same speeds... capish?

I appolizise, communication is not my strong point. I thought it was obvious that my point was that in my suburb, in Bloemfontein, the average speed for 3G is much higher. ADSL is not an option here because of the bad state of land lines. and you right there's someone on this forum from another suburb in Bloem that has a maximum of 12Mbps: I have never seen that.

Lots of people on ADSL 4Mbps or less.

Hope this counts - downloaded last night using my SamSung S2 as a hotspot but cannot complain my speeds are excellent. I don't have a lag when watching youtube videos etc.

8ta highly impressed getting this on international during peak hours before I could only get 1meg-2meg.

Did 8ta do something to their backhaul or purchase more capacity.

Hi,

I'm in Pretoria East and I'm having problems with my connection, recently it's been very unstable, sometimes I lose the connection completely and the router says I have full signal, my router is Huawei B863 and these are some results from www.speedtest.net

Also, the people at 8ta are telling me that they will charge me for the call out if somebody comes to check the signal (it's the second time now).
