Telkom has to enter the mobile space, or risk a decade or so of literally winding down its legacy business.
The continent's largest fixed-line operator, Telkom, is in trouble.
I didn't really get that feeling after reading the whole article. What did I miss?
In total, Telkom recorded a 92% decline in full-year profits.
That sentence scares the heebie jeebies out of me... because it means that Telkom's fixed line assetts and services are no longer a priority to the Massive operator who still holds exclusive control over the local loop.
calling a telkom landline from a telkom mobile will be free from the allocated minutes on your closer plan - for businesses it may charge fees as low as R 0.50c per minute to call a mobile from a landline. Free 3G roaming and usage allocation from your adsl package.![]()

Ohhh. Didn't see that in the article. My bad.
Fail-tanic ... once again at it , they are trying everything they can to make money but only succeed in wasting money! Unlike Midas everything telkom touches turns into a turd! This is more pie-in-the-sky dreams . They hope people will go for it . Why dont they just work on what they have and make it better ? Fixed line adsl , that is where they can make the most money. Yet they want to branch out into everything under the sun , but cant succeed in anything they do. Look at the epic fail of adsl in their hands. I get the feeling that "larry , Mo and Curly" (the three stooges) are actually telkoms "brain-trust" .
Once again nothing new here, telkom just trying to complete yet another epic fail.... Move along people, nothing new to be seen here, more high paid clowns with delusions of grandeur..
