Telkom Mobile Packages

This might have been discussed to death and I might be late to the party but Vodacom's recent iPhone 5S/C offerings have offended me enough that I'm shopping around.

So looking at the following from Telkom Mobile.

Inclusive all-net voice minutes: 100
Unlimited Telkom Mobile to Telkom Mobile calls (for the first 12 months)
Inclusive all-network Data: 150MB
Inclusive SMSs: 5 for 50 SMS promotion
Additional Data : 5GB Telkom Mobile Only

Does that apply to WiFi only or does that really mean what I think it means? I can do 5GB of data as long as I'm connected to the Telkom network? Surely I would be connected to Telkom 100% of the time?


Secondly I believe Telkom allow for dual-sims that can make use of the same contract package? Does that apply to any contract or only specific ones?

It means you can get 5gb of wifi data at any Telkom Mobile wifi site ;-). So shops with a Telkom shop in it, some restaurants etc.

No, you're not. In areas where TM does not have coverage you connect to MTN.

That would be the dream, but spoke to a Telkom guy as my wife and mother in law are on TM and it is similar to AlwaysOn.

Indeed.... its 5GB telkom mobile data... Very good deal if you have good tm coverage.............

The 5Gb is Mobile Data within Telkom Mobile Coverage, over and above the 150Mb (TM network and Roaming), not Wi-Fi.

Their is a value-add of 10Gb of free Wi-Fi, within Telkom Mobile Hotspots.

You need to speak to the voices, as they are misinforming you.

The 5GB data is not wifi data, it's 3G/HSPA+ data to use with your phone, or use your phone as a wifi hotspot.

Also you make it sound like the first 150mb is all network and after that is TM only? Surely it's two separate bundles?

The 150MB all network data means that WhatsApp and Google Navigation will still work if you are outside TM data coverage area, as it will roam on MTN's data.

These contract deals from telkom are awesome. The 5gb plus 10gb wifi really comes in handy.

I asked Telkom Mobile via email this morning and they said no sim only offers with 5GB data.

Hope they change this.

I think TM would be stupid to offer it as sim only.

The 5GB monthly data bundle is unique to Telkom Mobile high-end contract offerings.

Oh, and btw, I love mine.

Please be advised that you can get the SIM only contract at R99.00 month to month however you will not receive the additional 5GB Telkom Mobile data as that offer is only applicable when subscribing for the device as well.
