So it looks like I'm getting forced to move from ADSL to LTE. I received the following SMS from Telkom yesterday:
Dear customer, please expect an important call from Telkom regarding your Telkom service within the next few days. The number from which Telkom will call you starts with 012 688xxxx. You are welcome to call us on 0800 253263 Mon to Fri between 8am and 5pm. The Telkom team.
This morning I got a call saying that they are migrating all ADSL users in my area to LTE (no fibre available). Any future cable theft or problems on the ADSL network won't be replaced or repaired. I'm currently on a 4mb ADSL line, which I've been meaning to upgrade to 10mb. The option they gave is 10mb uncapped LTE for R759 per month. I don't want to sign a contract with them, so I have to buy the router upfront. I asked about FUP's and throttling, but they insisted I won't go down to a lower speed than 10mb, which I don't believe. This is what they have on their website:

- 150GB data @ 10Mbps
- Thereafter 50GB data @ 4Mbps
- Thereafter 2Mbps uncapped data rest of month
