Telkom Online Upgrade

Has anybody upgraded their Telkom Mobile contract via the online option?

How long did it take for them to deliver the new phone?

Reason I am asking. Wife can upgrade now and I can upgrade in a week's time. But none of the branches have stock of the device she wants and stock might only arrive next week. They cannot give her a clear answer.

So now we are looking at the online upgrade option to see if it might be quicker.

Thanks

Bonus question: Do you think they will have any better deals on the Huawei P10 or P10 Plus when they launch their new deals 19 August? So will it be worth waiting another 2 weeks or should I just grab one of the deals now?

I tried upgrading online in May but nobody ever contacted me to confirm or anything... So I just decided to call their Sales department for an upgrade.... The call took less than 10 minutes and I got my phone delivered I think after 4 days... If you're going from a micro to a nano sim phone makes sure you tell them to also send you a nano sim, otherwise you will have to go to the store for the sim...

Aaah... Good old Telkom.

I guess I'll do the phone thing then too. Hopefully it goes smoother than trying to contact one of their stores directly. Yesterday I tried phoning Woodands. Phone rang for more than 5min on numerous calls. Nobody answers. Eventually got hold of someone at The Grove after similar unanswered attempts.

I tried last year, let's just say I'm now on prepaid and bought the phone cash. Took that long

Not good to hear.

Guess phoning or store will be my go to option in the end.

I upgraded my contract mid June-ish. I got my phone after a few weeks only cause they were out of stock and apparently they aren't made anymore (S7 edge). I didn't get a choice in the colour either. Anyway, My old contract was about R450 a month. My new sim card was activated the 7th of July. They deducted R484 from my bank, fair enough. I looked at my bill yesterday. They're charging me R400 for the new phone for July and August. So I'm being charged for phone 1 - July, phone 2 - July, phone 2 - August. I think it's terribly unfair that I get charged for their mess.

So please just make sure that you're not getting billed for both phones in one month when upgrading

Was your old contract finished? Or did you "upgrade" early? If you upgrade early you still have to pay the device off for the full contract period.

I was told I can upgrade. Was never told I have to finish paying the old contract as well. I got the first contract in Aug 2015

That's how they catch you, the device is over the full 24 months
