We have three 4mb accounts from openweb. Since last night the speed on all three lines drops beyond bad.

This is one of the speed tests.

How can I tell if it is ISP or telkom fault?
I have already reported all 3 lines as faulty to telkom using the online fault reporting.

PS: Everytime i redo the speedtest i get different results. Highest linespeed so far is 980kbits/s.

Any Advice Mr Beep?

Did you check with Openweb to see if the problem does not lie on their side?

I think this is more of Telkom's problem. I had bad internet, browsing was slow, high pings, then there was a network outage in my area for 3 Days, they said the cables were damaged in my area. After the network outage, my speed was restored back to normal.

I had 3 ISP accounts (Cybersmart, Internet Services, and Telkom ISP) and both had bad speeds before the outage.

Thank you for your reply.
If line quality has not improved by tomorrow then I will contact them.
We had some heavy rain falls since yesterday morning, but don’t know if that might have something to do with it.

I had something similar, when it was raining heavily, the telephone and ADSL service in my area stopped working for a couple of minutes then came back on.

You can report the fault on their website, or call them (I think its better to call them, dont trust their website).

re

It have been 24 hours since i did telkom fault logs now and the speed did improve a bit.

ADSL1 =

Ping - 84ms
Download Speed - 1.61Mbps
Upload Speed - stuck at connecting

ADSL2 =

Ping - 95ms
Download Speed - 2.56Mbps
Upload Speed - 0.39Mbps

ADSL3 =

Ping - 86ms
Download Speed - 1.94Mbps
Upload Speed - 0.40Mbps

We used to get 5.6 download and 0.48 upload. :erm:

Speedtests has been done using www.speedtest.net
I have emails openweb with print screens results.
