Telkom prepaid

Damn, no advertising just hoping that everyone knows where to look on their website? They should be shouting this from the rafters, although I don't know how the pricing compares with the other operators...

Prepaid is here guys.

Any JHB fellows got the Prepaid Telkom Sim,

Maybe give us more info on it.

How do we check Balances and if the Data Bundle is shown on your Account Balance as well. How do we purchase Bundles.

I think prices will be the same as Contract.

wait a minute- I saw that a while back. Thats Mobi PREPAID seems to be like a prepaid cellphone for voice and sms: http://www.telkom.co.za/products_services/w-cdma/telkom_mobi/mobi_prepaid.html any data bundle prices? Nope. If you go to "Do 3G on the move" you only get Post paid data.

I have a Modem & I don't want to sign a month to month. Anyone know anything about prepaid yet?

tentative May 2010? pending installation of separate billing platform for mobile services.

Got mine today at Menlyn.

Got it on Wednesday at Hatfield but they didn't have a clue.

Prices the same as contract.

Now I am strugling my backside off to get it working.

You can get prepaid on m2m basis, without any hassles of:

i) utility bills i.e. proof of residence, [well I did not present one, maybe you will?]
ii) 3 months of bank records.
iv) payslip less than 3 months old.

The prepaid model has some up and downs:

i) It requires a top up at least every 90 days else the SIM is deactivated. (~)
ii) Should you have had enough simply don't top up again. (+1)
iii) Any unused data _does_ carry over for maximum of 90 days after which it is forfeit. (+1)
iv) Prepaid is much more expensive (30c per Megabyte) than a m2m postpaid account; I am assuming you have post paid account with Telkom and you are not exceeding your cap every month. (-10).

Pricing is here: http://www.telkom.co.za/products_services/w-cdma/do_move/cost.html

I am currently evaluating the service with a view to switch to it on a postpaid basis as it will become the best performance to cost ratio in the very near future for me.

The performance of the service is (very) good for my location, [measurements taken at 20H30 on 24/01/2010] see below:

Hope this helps?
