I see Telkom is advertising a R399 for 10/10 deal. Anyone happen to know what the FUP on those accounts are?

This is brilliant. Openserve is discontinuing the 10mbps product so this should be bumped up to 25mbps uncapped for R399

I won't get too excited about that. Not sure if they confirmed that they will bump it but I know their pppoe accounts are speed capped so even if the line speed changes you might still be capped to 10Mbps. Maybe just confirm with them first so if they don't then you have options to cancel.

That sucks. I was under the impression 25/25 was the minimum one could now get on openserve

In terms of line speeds yes that is correct but remember the prices stay the same as the 10/10 line just the speed changed on the line.

This means ISPs can essentially still sell the 10/10 at the current prices even if the line speeds increase they would just cap the speeds on the pppoe account since the losses won't be coming from the line rental but from the IPC and transit costs if speeds are increased.

I pulled the trigger on this. I had a call centre agent phone me and she said the line speed would be updated with openserve upgrades, so let's hope she was right. Anyway, I figure at R400 it was worth a punt.

Might not be a symmetrical 25mb if they do a free upgrade, given that the promo is 10/5

Fibre installed today - was expecting a two to three week wait, but less than a week is pretty decent. Anyway, now to figure out what to do with the multitude of routers I have lying around the house...

Do you have any LTE routers?
