I've been taking flac from management for days now, due to bounce errors when emailing the telkomsa domain.

Another user has now come forward with the same problem. He is emailing a private .co.za domain, which is hosted by, and redirects to, a telkomsa domain.

This is a definitely a problem on Telkom's side.

The Telkom callcentre hasn't got a clue what I'm talking about.

Who/how can I escalate this issue to someone at Telkom with some grey matter, please?

Thanks.

This is a delivery failure notification message indicating that an email you addressed to email address :
-- [email protected]

could not be delivered. The problem appears to be :
-- Bounce - Recipient server condition

Additional information follows :
-- 550 Your email address have Sent multiple Mails To email adresses that does not Exist,You reached your Hourly Limit.

seems possible that your bulk mailing system has a limitation...

Hi Venomous,

We don't have or use bulk email systems. We are a corporate entity. I've checked the numbers of emails sent, via the Mimecast console, and we are well within our limits. Each of the two users I'm working with have sent two emails to the telkomsa domain.

This only occurs when sending to the telkomsa domain.

Seems a client of mine is having this issue too, bizarre because I haven't noticed it before. Oddly enough they also run through mimecast. Please let me know if this gets resolved :)

Hi Guys,

We are a large corporate company, and we are experiencing the exact same issue. We are also hosted by Mimecast, and our users have to resend emails to telkomsa domains as they are randomly rejected with this message: 550 Your email address have Sent multiple Mails To email adresses that does not Exist,You reached your Hourly Limit.

I suspect that they are receiving a lot of spoofed mails, and this is their way of trying to stop it. Not the best method though...

I have no idea which telkom number to call, as i end up in a queue which does not get answered and eventually I lose the will to live and then hang up.

Hurrah! Compatriots in woe. :)

Murdoc, don't even bother with the Support line. They've no clue and are only their as basic support. I'm hoping that we can find someone more senior, here on the forum...

Kind regards,

Nic

I have PM'd TelkomZA in the dim hope that something will get done, shall keep y'all posted if something comes of it.

Cool, apparently I need to call 10214 regarding this issue, lets see what happens

Lol Merlin,

I spoke to one support guy, and it was starting to sound promising... then he asks me if i can access the internet lol, and wanted to know what our ADSL number was...

You were right hehe

Hi guys

Any resolution to this? I have just received the "550 Your email address have Sent multiple Mails To email adresses that does not Exist,You reached your Hourly Limit" message from two telkomsa.net email addresses when sending from Gmail but not from Hotmail.

How are you sending email? For example, are you using Mimecast?

We have had some discussions in the past with Mimecast, and they wanted special treatment, to have some directory harvesting protections relaxed just for them which we don't relax for anyone at present. They weren't able to prove that they were preventing directory harvesting attacks.

Please contact your email service provider, and have them contact the Telkom Internet email team.

Hi guys

Any resolution to this? I have just received the "550 Your email address have Sent multiple Mails To email adresses that does not Exist,You reached your Hourly Limit" message from two telkomsa.net email addresses when sending from Gmail but not from Hotmail.

I just tested, and my email from gmail.com to a telkomsa.net address was delivered immediately.

Any luck with this?

I have just received the same issue. I am emailing through Google SMTP using an alias domain name. I have been doing this for over a decade without problems.

I have tried two different telkomsa.net email addresses and both bounced back. I have tried emailing non-Telkom email addresses and they went through fine.

I also tried sending straight from my GMail account and it bounced with the same error. Seems Telkom doesn't like my GMail account? To the best of my knowledge I am not spamming anyone.

I called and was given a reference number.
