Telkom Reply: Your feedback needed

Another idea, but you'll need the help of some of the journalists on this board: Can't we have these emails published?

My advice:

1. Agree to a meeting, give them dates as they requested (keep your side clean)
2. Include a agenda for the meeting, with detailed topics, that can't be misunderstood.
3. Get a third party to lead the meeting, this way it doesn't turn into a mud fight.
4. Minutes of meeting, very important. Write down who commited to which point on the agenda, and by which date will feedback be given.
5. If the meeting is a bust, i.e. no commitments, then we know where we stand, and what to not expect from Telkom.

Send the results to Papi and media people. Let everybody know that Telkom is not commited to changing their evil ways.

I think email meetings are a bad idea.... with email it's very difficult to set the tone of what one is trying to say and can easily be taken the other way... in other words you could be providing more ammo to them... then it would even longer and other channels to clarify the tone, it would only end up in a big mess... I suggest go to the meeting RPM or someone that wants to go, so make the date, arrange for Papi to be there if possible and ask them as others have mentioned, what is their agenda for the meeting. State yours too. Then at the meeting (bring along someone to take minutes, which will be signed by both parties) ask them exactly what u asked on the email... and see what they say... it will all be recorded in the minutes. Also send a separate email to Papu expressing your concern at the tone of this email, and that we really want to see commitment from them at this meeting otherwise you think its pointless taking this relationship further. Ask him if possible that you would like him to be present at this meeting.

Like everyone else said it is important that we go to the meeting, so as not to provide them with media ammo.

let's do it, come on!!

RichardP mentioned this in another post and I think its great.

Why not go to the meeting under whatever conditions you chaps can agree to, but also include that you would like a copy of the Shareholders Register.

I'm no legal boffin by any stretch, but from reading some of the posts here, they should not be able to deny you that.

It might prove to be an interesting list, and we can even offer to host it on the web for them, for free, cause we are such a friendly and helpful bunch of folks :D

All points i was about to make. Get a secretary there to take minutes - some one who will on no why be involved in the discussions... just a fly on the wall.
I know that email is p****** you off - but you have the upper hand if you can put it aside in your mind. Keep it for later (like a month or so) when it can be used as ammo and there are now tempers still flaring about it - gives you a lot more credability as yours is not a rash decision.
You have to agree to meet with them - give them a date as they have requested. Be completely profesional and cool as a cucumber. Their first method of defence will be gone.
Again i say - don't let it get emotional!! They will tear your arguments apart if it is.

Everybody is saying "Don't give them media ammo "
The question is what ammo ? In my eyes they can olny say to the media that their clients ,MyADSL , don't want to talk to them and runniing to the media.
SO WHAT . If it was not a waste of time you expressed interest in talking which proved to be a waste of time.
You must remmember that after a meeting they will tell the media things which never happend . The same as they are claiming now that 94% of MyADSL member supported per gig charges.

RPM, I have so much respect for you after reading that.. You have a lot more patience than I do ... one hell of a lot more!

Good luck with the meeting though.. If I am not mistaken, does that 2nd last line read, to basically say.. Next week I will be busy so make you date but and I will decide if I can accomodate you when it suits me.

Have you prehaps sent Papi an email with regards to that email.

RPM. I presume this "Wally" reports to Papi?

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a direct conversation with Papi, highlighting the negative impact his poorly worded email had on the forum and the telkom/myadsl relationship, and setup a date for a face to face meeting ASAP.

Hi folks

I have just been contacted by Telkom. There was some unhappiness about the publication of personal emails, but they are willing to meet to see how we can work together. They have agreed to a recorded meeting to ensure transparency.

When we have finalized the details I will ask for your input to ensure that your concerns are being voiced and to see how Telkom is willing to address them.

Regards,

RPM

Rofl, they should know by now that you play open cards, silly Telkom.

BTW, how did they know that you publicized 'personal' email? They're watching us here? Good! about time!

RPM I think it's time the 7000 members do a little march to parlament with a doc to show the damage Telkom has done to this country. I am however worried that we might get mugged or disperesd with teargas and rubberbullets for doing something we believe in. your call

I think they are going to use this meeting to warn and throw MyADSL down the gauntlet. They will twist it like the media report release. Get a list and a Agenda of this meeting beforehand. Again if it is the PR department, Lawyers and no Papi or development team members, send them to hell and gone. I do not like this meeting after their tone exhibited and the media release. I smell a huge rat and its name is TELKOM

Why they complain about the e-mails. Everybody can from all the different responses see how they lie and try to befuse us and then release media statements to say we all agreed. Hiding behind e-mails should not be condoned. If it is a problem then just state what they said in direct words and if anyone disputes it then show them the e-mail as proof. Same effect.

Íf they have problems with what they e-mail then just simply they should not respond at all.

So Fking what, if that is what it takes to get the media response and release of our findings then so be it. I am still in. They cannot do that to a peacefull march as they would have the world opinion turning agaist them

What happened to the Telkom rep who were to become part of this forum and answer our questions?

Weren't the mails sent to MyADSL? Hey, that's us... FFS!!

What part of 7000 members don't they understand? :)

RPM - maybe the meeting should take place after monday next week - Telkom releases its interim results on monday and there might be some ammunition coming out of that too.
