Telkom reveals HSDPA prices

Cape Town still stuck with MTN & VC, come on Telkom and Neotel there is some people in Cape Town too you know

I don't see why this should stop someone getting the service... there are not a huge majority of people driving around using their broadband.

My own use is limited to when I'm out the office and on site which means the Telkom solution should suite me in Gauteng for now as I'm not driving when I use it.

now if I have nomadic service at only marginally higher than normal telkom pricing it becomes possible to throw the cellphone out unless I'm on a national road.

How is it possible that Telkom can cover the whole of Jhb and Pta in a far shorter timeframe than Neotel? Neotel just aint commit to do anything!!! Neotel is just the "fixedline" version of CellC - Groot bek maar niks binnegoed!
 
Even Telkom tries lower price but I won't buy it because Telkom is badly label in the past to charge them very HIGH PRICE. It is Telkom's reap what they sows.
 
Let hope Telkom allows us to use fring, as it really annoys me that Vodacom blocks fring on its 3G network.....
 
Don’t u think that Iburps prices for their Wireless products are a bit pricy considering that the prices for the 500mb offering is the same and less speed.
 
I really don't get their strategy. Where does wimax fit into the equation?
 
I've said this in a FEW threads on this issue.

The no supporting softcell handover makes this a NON-mobile solution, which kills the point of 3g in my opinion.

Knowing telkom, their coverage will be in areas that are already covered by WiMAX and ADSL, so WHY would anyone get this from Telkom?

I've been using Fring for more than three years now on my 3G cellphone.

What are you talking about?
 
Well done Telkom! (Never thought I would say that!)

My Vodacom contract costs me R349/month for 1G. Telkom are offering 2G for the same price, with no contract, and I assume my Vodacom PCM/CIA card will still work with the Telkom SIM.

Now when will this be available in Durban?

I can use Fring on Vodacom just fine... Anyone else having problems with VOIP over 3G? Except for the latency
 
Have a look at their Gauteng map for wimax and the one for 3G .looks very similar if you ask me...
 
I am 99.9% sure that all they're doing is tacking 3G equipment onto their WiMAX towers.. which kind of defeats the purpose of this if you ask me.... and also explains how they've been able to get coverage so quickly..

Its considerably cheaper to have WiMAX than their 3G service.
 
what is this softcell handover?

Also isn't Wimax deadslow...
