Telkom reveals mobile 3G prices

Telkom has published pricing for its HSDPA broadband service

the telkom E220 modem has three profiles....

1) Telkom Postpaid
2) Telkom Prepaid
3) Telkom MMS

so it looks like there will be a prepaid option!

I doubt this price drop is enough for mtn and vc to drop their prices. I'll be extremely happy if they do though, I'm on vc but I doubt it.

Lol - I would still never get telkom for mobile broadband - my mobile account must do both tel and internet. Nice for the farmer and rural bloke who can't get ADSL but then where does Wimax fit in now? It's still high latency and more expensive than ADSL so definately not targeting the market that I'd like to see come down in price... RADICALLY...
One wouldn't mind this if ADSL was alot cheaper - that way you could afford to have both.

Voda and MTN won't lower their prices as they are still the most mobile solution. Especially after reading the T&C's where it says:"Telkom 3G fixed mobile services do not support soft cell handover."
EDIT: What does "Prices for data bundles exclude CPE" mean here just below the pricing for bundles?

All good and well, I'm really happy for Telkom, but would you be able to use your standard internet account (from a different ISP) to connect on to the 3G network of Telkom?

Telkom have been world beaters at prices for years, it's just the first time they've "beaten" pricing by having a lower price than other market contenders.

PS: Maybe they're finance and product pricing team just misunderstood the concept of price beating to begin with.
