Telkom rival goes head hunting

Just wait for a few key Telkom people to move over and Telkom'll soon be suing for breach of NDAs etc. and complaining to Ivy and Paris.
 
Neotel said in response to questions from Fin24 sister publication Finweek that it had already exceeded 50 staff members, having launched with 40 nearly two months ago. It plans to recruit 250 by March 2007, and end up with around 2 000 in the long-term.

How many employees has Telkodemonopolies retrenched over the last few years? - approximately 75% of its original workforce, that's quite a lot of people sitting without jobs, and NeOTel is not going to provide jobs for those people who have telecoms skills & experience, although it might indirectly provide a few additional jobs by sub-contracting work out...

Guavamint has a responsibility to provide South African citizens [IOW voters] with jobs [job creation], and one major disadvantage of her Poisonous Ivyness' [mis]managed liberalisation of the telecoms sector, is that potential competitors are actively prevented from entering the sector and prevented from being employers, prevented from providing jobs...
As a new entrant starting off with a new network, Neotel has the advantage of being able to operate with fewer people: "The technologies that we are deploying allow us to be an extremely lean organisation, ensuring optimal employee-customer ratios particularly when compared to traditional operators," it said.

Which is how any company should be run - no point in paying more money out in salaries than is absolutely necessary, surely guavamint realises that companies cannot afford to employ masses of people to sit about doing nothing? - wait, no her Poisonous Ivyness simply does not give a damn about job creation, and would rather rake in profits from every finger she has in the telecoms sector pie...

Fully liberalise the telecoms sector and more jobs will be created with the added advantage of pricing & services that compare favourably with international norms...

Look I am glad for the employees that Neotel may get but seriously what are they going to do with 50 or 200 employees:eek: :eek: :eek: I think they should rather have being called the last line operator.

I suppose that is why we don't hear anything from Neotel there is nothing going on.

This could also lead to costs rising to some extent, as the two became competing employers: "However, it is unlikely to spark a 'wage-war' between Telkom and the SNO and increase wages to unacceptable levels," Molotsane said.

Telkom is using a lot of contractors to do the real hard work like installations etc.

Guess the contractors are in for a royal time.
