Got my DSL line installed in two days.

Seriously I ordered a new line and Adsl and everything happened within a week.

Things sure have changed since the last time I ordered.

Thank G*D I can now say good bey to wireless:D

Great - that gives me hope for Cape Town...

The Telkom guy even said things go faster in Cape Town...probably the first time I've ever heard that one! :p

Which modem do you use? Did you get it through Telkom?
I'm trying to decide which one I need...

Thanks

No I kept my old Marconi piece of cr@p from the last time I had ADSL.

I plugged in in yesterday and the dsl link light kept on flashing.

I prepared for the long wait and bam this afternoon the light stayed on. I accessed the telkom website. Veryfied my line and phoned my local Telkom shop who gave me my login details.

The WiFi modem special ended last month:(

Let me just say again how glad I am that my days of wireless frustration is finished :-)

My ADSL activation also took only 3/4 days(Cape Town ).
Cannot complain about Telkom at this stage.
Just hope it stays that way!

Can't be happening - Telscum's hacked into WiseCrack's account and is posting this blasphemy here :p :D ;)

Glad you're away from Wireless :D

Wish the wisp would remove their fugly equipment from my roof (-

Cannot believe a company would charge R1500 for installation and you still rent the equipment from them.

Also don't know how they justify asking R300 for a 64k connection.

Wonder if they will wake up and upgrade everyone on 64k to 192k at least for free.

Uncapped Pffft! I mean how much do they expect you to dl @ 8k a month.

Hmm... everyone complains about Telkom but they have installed ADSL lines in 2 different homes/offices for me within a week both times. I think there service is not as bad as people think. Pretty good compared to other volume services providers.
Although internation traffic on there adsl accounts do go down quite a bit these days due to issues with there ATM networks.

Well, it was a standard 30 days if you were lucky not too long ago, few months if you were unlucky...

I ordered ADSL last month for the first time.
Phoned on a Saturday morning, ordered Do level 2, with self install, no contract and free modem.
Got a call on the Wednesday morning and got told that I can fetch my modem.
Took about an hour to install on the XP side of my iMac following the instructions and using the cd.
The cd doesn`t have anything for Tiger OS, used the Apple Internet connect app and took 5 minutes to get connected.

Also in Cape Town.

Yea. There install times have improved greatly. The sad part is that they have improved to (almost) World Standard. We are just used to rubbish.

yeah, it seems that lately they seem to be installing in less than 5 days.....

good news :) hope for better prices soon

their recent turnaround ito installation times has to be praised.

no they just need to tackle those usage limits and price.
