Telkom seems to now go around and offer "free Telkom/MTN-boosters" to estates. Has anyone got any experience if there are any limitations? i.e. are the Telkom devices multi-carrier and do they support 3G and LTE?
There also seems to be some sort of "buy-in" - i.e. "the device is installed and maintained by Telkom". I have not seen any contracts/paperworks, but generally nothing is ever done for free. Not sure if there is some exclusivity and if it is a single-carrier booster if this would not possibly negatively affect users not on Telkom/MTN.
It is also my understanding that the booster devices support a limited amount of clients - what will happen if the max-client limit has been reached (will my phone then connect to the cell-phone tower instead?). Biggest concern is that cell-service might actually get worse if the wrong device is installed (i.e. not supporting enough clients and/or not having enough coverage).
