We are moving our office to an area with no fibre or ADSL. We have been using approximately 25GB per month with our ADSL line. i am looking at the 50GB Double Deal package meaning 100GB Day and 100GB nightsurfer. Telkom advised me that because we will be getting LTE-A coverage (faster speed) it will eat more data. Now I am worried that we will run out of data. I have read horror stories of people on these capped packages with Telkom and their data all of a sudden runs out after 10 days of usage (no change in their usage patterns). I need to make a decision quickly and are very confused.

Usage patterns don't need to change for services that dynamically adjust bandwidth settings to best match linespeed, like Youtube's default
Personal experience i've seen a few households go from 15gig to 50+ from ADSL to LTE

I'm of the opinion that a change in speed this big can take a few months to "stabilize" utilizationwise, but that's why we have topups :)

There are of course options like throttling the connection speed using a router/device that has the functionality (my TP-Link and Asus DSL Routers have such functionality built-in) to a "more reasonable speed" to limit available bandwidth

Yeah really depends on what people are doing. Stuff like video streaming adjusts the quality (and therefore size) of the video, so a faster speed would mean that you use more data.

If its only "work crap", IE: Some google, reading MyBB, email, etc. Then you probably wont use more. Except for the first month, count on the first month being savage, while everyone runs speedtests and sees how fast the network is.
