If Telkom is my SP how do I send outside of their netowrk if I'm at a iCafe or coffee shop?

I have tried smtp.saix.net and set outbound authentication with no luck.

Use your web browser , or you will have to find out what network they on , you could just have a crack shot at guessing. eg smtp.isdsl.net or smtp.mweb.co.za

Can't you just enable outgoing SMTP authorization. This way telkom will allow you to relay from other networks. I don't know if this works with Telkom i have never tried.

all ISPs restrict SMTP through their network, but POP3 works fine.

Unfortunately it doesn't work and it's for a colleague that's not the most clued up when it comes to email setup. Also, having to change your smtp server everytime you're on a different network isn't really a decent solution.

Thanks anyway
