My wife and I are moving less than 1km away from our old home. Thought it would be easy to get the ADSL and voice line transferred.
Everything went well at the Telkom shop and they told us the switchover would happen on January 3rd. She receives a confirmation message that someone will be here.
Nobody shows up on the 3rd, so I call their service number in the late afternoon. After an insufferable voice menu, I go into an infinite loop of hold music and recordings trying to sell me stuff. I give up.
On the 4th, my wife calls them in the morning, and chooses the option to be called back when it's her spot in the waiting queue. No one calls back.
So after lunch I try to call them again. Only spend about 15 minutes on hold. Finally get through to some moron who tells me the install date is now January 16th, and that they have no record of the 3rd in their system.
I guess that's what you get when you have government controlled corporations.
So.... if anyone from Vodacom, MTN or Cell C is reading this, please come out with a competitive home based wireless Internet service. I would happily drop Telkom, but I do need to be able to have multiple devices on a home network (i.e. by network printer and NAS).
As too the *****ers at Telkom, I hope you go backrupt and all lose your jobs. No one as incompetent as you should be paid.
