Telkom strike on the cards

What? The rich monopoly does not treat its workers fairly??? :O

What worries me most is that it seems as if Telkom is falling apart at the seams while Neotel is still not ready to provide an alternative option in a big way.

Neotel's management should be worried in a big way about these developments.
 
Telkom wants to take the job and give it to someone who will do it better and now the ones that has the job now threatens to stop doing it? Awesome logic there.
All the more reason to take it away and give it to 3rd party networking support companies.

Absolutely. Thats the thinking in this country. If things don't go your way because you can't do your job, then strike. :eek:
 
Thats all fine and well, but who will be the people losing their jobs? The usually efficient and hardworking techies? Or the management team behind them who can't manage a shag in a brothel?
 
From what I know, nobody will lose their job. They will be transfered to the company that will be doing the work. There is no company in the world that can supply IT and network support services to a company the size of Telkom with only their own people.

Where was the mention of retrenchment ... I must have missed that?

With such a high unemployment rate, I say let them go. Anyone who dosent turn up for work gets a DCM (Dont Come Monday) letter. Sure, you can't train people overnight, but they guys will re-apply for their jobs in 3 months, cause they wont have any food or rent etc! You will only need to do this once ...

Next they will be on strike cause the company can only offer 10% pay increase ... but they forgotten all the billions lost cause they just didnt want to come to work!

Besides ... I blame the Unions ... The Unions have too much say ... most of the Union bosses are English, from England, with an accent ... why? Because they where kicked out of the UK 20 years ago. Can SA not learn from the wrongs made by other countries with regards to Unions? All these bosses like in BIG houses and eat really well. When the "people" go on strike, sometimes for weeks, and get no pay ... do you see these bosses handing out food parcels ... paying rent ... or offering a place to sleep in their R5million houses .... NO!!! They are "locked in discussions behind CLOSED doors" (and I wonder if there is water in the AC room while the "people" sing and dance outside, in the 35+ temperatures?

I think I had better stop now ... before I blow something ... :)
 
they retrench the union strikes, they give someone something the union strikes.pathetic this country have become
