Telkom sulks...:D

There are many reasons why Telkom should not have been considered for the tender.

For one, they have a proven track record of not being able to install or maintain bandwidth services. Ask the people of Cape Town how much trouble it is to get an ADSL line or even worse, getting it repaired.

Hi Kaspaas

Isn’t this merely a tactic of Telkom to generally delay these kinds of projects? The more self-owned network rollouts are delayed, the longer they keep control…

When does the Convergence Act replace the Telecommunications Act? Telkom claims that the Telecommunications Act is still in affect despite the Convergence Act being passed into law.

Most probably it is.

But based on Telkom's performance on ADSL, nobody serious could consider them.

If they don't have the capacity to roll out and maintain an ADSL network, what chance do they have to roll-out and maintain a network like that?

ICASA are also part of the delay problem (as usual :( )

So in the meanwhile these clinics and libraries etc. have to pay hugely inflated prices.

Nice going Telkom - your morals are lower than crayfish crap lying at the bottom of the ocean.

The City of Cape Town has long complained about the cost of connectivity for its free social service projects. These include libraries and clinics, for which Telkom has charged it normal commercial rates without considering such services are not income generating for the municipality.

Telkom, stuff that into your pipe and smoke it!

Greed will be your downfall - if you had taken these social service projects into consideration, then things might have been different, but nooooo...

Hope they don't hold the tendering process up.

Kudos goes to CT for having the balls to give Telkom the shove.
