Telkom tech deleted email addresses

My brother-in-law went to a Telkom shop to ask them to reset his Telkom ADSL password as he had forgotten it.

For future reference, next time send an sms to 012 32 10215 (the number is now provided on the login page for some of our tools) from the cellphone wr have on record for the account holder.

Also, if you use [email protected] password guest on the modem or pppoe connection, you will get to (be redirected to) the password management tool.

Thanks, Ranger, that is some useful advice!

That many? I only noticed one in the 10+ years I've been on Gmail, I got a message saying something to the effect of my account can't be accessed right now and that no data would be lost. I retried a few minutes later and logged straight in. That was a GOOD few years ago, and the only time I know of.

I was not affected by all those, only a few (think 4). Still bloody good uptime over such a long time.

I dunno why people use isp email accounts, host your own or use a cloud solution like gmail. You can even have your own domain name.

Been with gmail since 2004 and I can count the amount of outages on my one hand.
I totally agree. Unfortunately lots of people just don't know - and they are only told when they get into a bad situation like this.
